Heavily drank alcohol at 8 weeks and 9 weeks pregnant

Hi! I have recently found out I was pregnant..not until I was 10 weeks pregnant. I have been researching for like 24 hours on this topic and would just really appreciate some feedback. As I said I am a little over 10 weeks pregnant now and the problem is I HEAVILY drank 2 times..so binge drank 2 times..honestly probably 10+ drinks both times.. one I was 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and the other I was 9 1/2 weeks pregnant. But I didn't have any alcohol in between. I am so nervous I caused harm to the baby because what I am reading is the first trimester is the most important trimester (they all are, but this is crucial) for the baby's development. I also have read that there may be a difference between binge drinking and daily drinking and the effects it has. I know there is no cut and dry answer because of course something could be wrong with the baby both physically (cleft lip, small head, Fetal alcohol syndrome facial features because the first trimester is when all of that is forming) and mentally because there was alcohol involved, but I would REALLY appreciate any feedback/similar stories and what the outcomes were/any further data you have about fetal alcohol syndrome.

You don’t need to worry. What you have experienced is very common. FAS affects only about 5% of women who drink heavily THROUGHOUT pregnancy - it’s complex and related to genetics, nutrition, deprivation.
2 studies here showing no impact from isolated binges in early pregnancy.

Relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Sorry can’t do clicky links.

Please don't worry. You are fine. This is tiny. Nothing. FAS affects minimal % of women and is for 'hardcore' drinkers.

I was pissed on my hen, before I even knew I was pregnant!! Blush

I had a late night session on wine and liqueurs and 20 cigs at a work do before finding out I was pregnant.

DD is studying at a Red Brick Uni and is utterly gorgeous.

So no ill effects.

I was sooo drunk at Xmas eve. On whiskey. And Xmas day, on wine. On Boxing Day we had a ‘children in bed party’ during which I drank a lot of gin.

Basically it was my first Xmas for years where I wasn’t pregnant or breast feeding, so I went to town.

At new year I found out I was six weeks pregnant.

You are not alone! I’m determined not to worry about it, I didn’t know, I didn’t drink when I found out, there is nothing I can do about it.

Totally speak to your midwife if you still feel anxious, but also be kind to yourself.

I don't have time to look it up now, but apparently during the first however many weeks of pregnancy the baby is not getting any outside nutrients from you, it's in a bubble. What you eat and drink has little to no effect.

Thank you everyone. The research can drive one nuts haha. I hope I can calm down about it and move on since there’s nothing I can do now except not drink going forward. Thank you 🙏

Similar again. I was drinking heavily and smoking - no idea I was pregnant. DD is now in her twenties, very healthy and studying to be a vet.

Hi Mamas!
I need your advice. I Took a pregnancy test while I was on a weekend lake trip and it came back negative. Therefore, I had three days of a lot of fun and alcohol! I don't drink much at all anymore so I decided to live it up a little bit since it's been awhile since this new mama has gotten to have fun away like this. Well I got back on Sunday and just happened to take a test and I am pregnant! Woo hoo! But I am so so nervous. We drank quite a bit on Thursday from 6-12 am (I haven't drank much in awhile so I was definitely drunk), had 4 drinks on Friday, and day drank all day from 10 am-11 pm Saturday 😭😭😭I am pretty sure I am 4 weeks pregnant (4 weeks and 3 days at this point). Any help with this? I just can't stop thinking about how I may have hurt this baby or risk for miscarriage. Thanks for your help in advance.
