Hi ladies

Spoke to midwife today who said my bloods showed low folate and haemoglobin levels. So naturally straight onto google and now stressing that it is low folic acid and will have had an effect on the baby’s development. I’m 13 weeks.

Thanks x

Have you been take folic acid supplements every day?

As far as I know, folic acid is man made folate. Have you been taking supplements?

Yeah I have - pregnacare for at least two months before I got pregnant. I have skipped the odd once since being pregnant due to horrendous nausea and forgetting but surely that won’t have done it?

I’m really stressing about the effect on the baby x

Did the midwife advise what was best option ? I know of people who have needed higher doses of folic acid than the recommended 400mg and have taken additional folic acid along side but dont take my word and do it - speak to midwife first and see what she suggests

Thanks for getting back to me. I’m under a consultant so they have to review the bloods first apparently x
