Hi all
I'm 35+4 today, had a baby scan then met with consultant. Baby is weighing around 7 pounds and I'm not due until 26th July.

They want to send me for an urgent gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning even though I had one at 27 weeks which came back on.

They are also saying they want to induce me at 39 weeks because I'm 40.

I don't know how I feel I'm a bit confused. They are saying I could have a 9 pound baby and also warning me about a possibility of me not being able to deliver the shoulders or the baby if they are wide and then having to intervene which could damage the collar bone of the baby etc

Firstly don’t fret too much about the size shown on scan, I’ve heard so many times about how wrong this turns out to be. I was told baby was 10.5lb and he was 9.3. Totally normal to be induced early if 40 and over, placenta is at more risk for older mums after 40wks, I’m being induced at 38wks.

@Beldon thanks for your reassurance.
I'm seeing the midwife next week so will also see what she says the consultant I saw wasn't the usual person was a stand in which had me doubting!!

Thanks so much.
Hope your induction goes well xxx
