Leaving my sweep until 42 weeks and 3 days

I had a sweep today, I am currently 40 weeks and 3 days. The midwife could feel the babies head, but couldn't reach my cervix and the next one is booked for 42 weeks and 3 days, which seems like an awfully long wait, as if they need to induced me I'll be almost 3 weeks over.
Hopefully the baby will come before then, but did anyone else have to wait quite long for their sweeps?

@MummyCJW that is an awfully long wait and doesn't seem right to me. I'd contact your midwife again. Usually they are inducing at 42 weeks. Do ensure you are closely monitoring baby movement too. If it feels less (even though that can be quite normal late on) don't hesitate and get straight on the phone to midwife or maternity. I had my son at 42 weeks and all was well and sweeps didn't work for me so it's not the be all and end all but the longer baby is in there the more risks can develop in some cases so I would contact them again. I'm not sure where you live but I hear very hot weather is about to hit - I had my DS in a heat wave and the maternity ward does get busy as the heat seems to set babies off so it may be you don't have too long to wait. Drink lots of water, eat pineapple and maybe have a curry for tea. I tried every trick in the book to hurry on my DS. Also after 42 weeks at my hospital you were automatically high risk so I couldn't have the birthing pool experience that I had initially wanted.

I agree that is an awfully long time !

@Newbie21 I phoned up and she said she wrote it down for me wrong and that actually the sweep is the 2nd. I'm not suprised it was wrong, this is my 6th midwife at this centre 😅 for my 1st pregnancy I don't know what it's like to have a consistent midwife giving you all this informstion, it's just get in do the measurements and heartbeat ect....Yea we have the heat here too.
Glad the birth went well for you, sorry you couldn't do the birthing pool, that is what I would I like to ideally do too if possible.

@MummyCJW glad you got it sorted. That sounds like a much more logical date! I'm glad you queried it. I hope the sweep brings things along.
