Do you get signs that you’re about to go into labour? I don’t mean the typical ones...

I was trying for a baby, and when I got pregnant I just knew. Things that I’ve never read about happened, my body just felt different immediately.

I’m 38 weeks with my first and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something like this before labour, like subtle signs that something is about to happen? It’s hard to imagine that I could just be going about a normal day and boom, baby-time.

I sensed something was about to happen. The one night I took a towel to bed with me, and my waters broke at 2am.

When noises and sounds got so annoying that I had to leave the room.

Yes, someone rattling foxes glacier mints around in their mouth sounded like it was in stereo surround sound. I was furious and in labour shortly afterwards.

I had no idea. I woke up with contractions the day before I was due to be induced.

teacuptale · 25/06/2019 10:20

I had no signs with my first and then my waters went.

pastabest · 25/06/2019 10:22

Nah.

Both times I didn't feel any different at all in the 24 hours before labour started. No signs no twinges nothing. Both times labour started with a bloody show and then contractions starting about 12 hours later, then baby another 8 hours ish after that. Both times waters were broken by midwives a few minutes before the baby was born.

I have really boring births!

I had the runs in the days leading up to labour. I lost my plug each time though which was the biggest indication. Mentally I felt the same as I had from around 36 weeks, just stroppy and desperate to give birth Grin.

Oh, yes. It was the weekend after the Friday my midwife had said I wouldn't last until Monday. I was a week overdue, had been clearing my bowels for the last week and Sunday rolled around, nothing. I was adamant we were going out for a cake and the mulled wine I had been craving for weeks. I had it all. And bought a gift for soon to be DS at the local Christmas market in the hope he'd want it enough to come out.

Weirdly I didn't eat my dinner that night, because I wasn't hungry and things started at around 4 or 5 am.

I felt like a baby was going to emerge from my parts imminently after having a sweep, his head dropped so low and I couldn't even sit I thought I was going to squash him lol
I just knew it was going to start that night (after being told by family & friends that sweeps never work) but I had everything prepped and my bags where by the door 😂

Headache... I get migraines but hasn't had anything for months. Though this wasn't a migraine, but a dull headache that made me think of the one I'd get the day my period would start. I was tired, grumpy and couldn't concentrate on anything. This started in the afternoon and contractions started that night.

TweakMyHouse · 25/06/2019 13:50

I got really antsy and anxious, felt like I couldn’t settle anywhere. Wanted to take all my clothes off!
DD arrived 3hrs later Grin

Titsywoo · 25/06/2019 13:50

A few days before I went into labour I suddenly went into mad cleaning mode (asking DH to move the oven and the fridge to clean behind them and stuff!).

Knew I was pregnant with my first and second (and previous ectopic) so took pregnancy test to confirm - as you say, just felt different despite no symptoms!

With my second I also knew she would be born that day! No symptoms whatsoever! Family had been staying with me and were due to go home that day, all the others went except my mum! I just knew! Can’t say how, I just did! Around teatime I was on the phone to my Nan and my waters went (if you can call it that, none of the drama like most people say, didn’t even soak through my trousers but I felt a pop!) hung up the phone, told dh & mum and said I think we’d better head to the hospital! Not long later my daughter was born!
Didn’t know with dc3 felt no different at all. And now 33weeks with dc4 but I didn’t have the ‘I’m pregnant’ feelings like I did with first 2! I really hope I get a sixth sense that I’m in labour tho, as this time the hospital is a bloody long drive away so would like to make my way closer if possible lol! x

@3luckystars funny you say that yesterday and now today (around this time) I've just been overcome with rage and feeling really emotional, I literally can't snap out of it, I'm ignoring calls and texts because I don't think I can talk to anyone right now without feeling irritated. I was so horrible to my dh last night about him not pulling his weight in the house and recognising I can't do as much as usual etc, I meant most of it but I was ott and we never argue I'm so chilled out usually but I still feel annoyed even though my rational mind is telling me to stop it ... I hope this is labour and I've not another week of being a moody dragon x

F10029 · 25/06/2019 14:45

I cried for 24hours before I went into labour - at the time I couldn't work out why but it was a bit like extreme pmt! No other signs, contractions woke me from an afternoon nap.
