Double prams/push chair for baby and toddler

We are considering buying a pram with the option to add a second seat for a toddler but unsure if this is necessary? Is this an essential with a baby and young or is a buggy board ok?

Iv got the oyster max tandem. I use it with both seats or 1 seat and buggy board depends how far we are going etc.. my toddler still had day naps so i had to get a double x

Whats the age difference? How old is the child that would use the buggy-board?

I have nearly 16 months between my two. For me personally I tried the single pram and sling, and then the buggy board and found the double pram so much easier. It worked perfectly. I had the Out-and-About.
