bloody bloody bloody persona- aaagh!!!

Not much else to say really. I had sex on day 18, a very green day. I know I ovulated on day 12 and now I find i'm pregnant!!

Is it common to get pregnant at day 18?

I have used it for years both to get pregnant and to avoid pregnancy and not had any problems.

aaagh! (it is completely the wrong time in my life, my family is complete, I have recently gone back to work, I am old).

(I am a name changer btw - but people on here know me in rl and I am not ready to out myself).

My ovulation sign never comes on mine til day 16 so I'm sure I could get pregnant on day 18

mine used to change all the time the O I mean - did you ahve sex at all in the run up to O as my green days pre O should have been red days if that makes sence - it jsut wasn't asking for a stick.

Blimey, a bit of a shock for you.

I got pregnant using persona, and was using it for contraception. However, I never was any good remembering if it was a red or green day!

I got pregnant 10 years ago using persona and could never work it out as I knew I had ovulated when it said on the red days and had used contraception then so either that failed or I conceived on a green day too. Luckily for me it was my first dd and I quickly grew used to the idea whereas you don't want anymore. Hope it works out OK for you.

I think the advice should be if you don't want to get pregnant don't use Persona - which slightly defeats the object I guess eh?!!

My persona is gathering dust somewhere, never worked for me when I wanted to get pregnant and so I was not keen to try it as a method of contraception.

My DD is a day-18 child so yes it is possible!

I have used Persona for both contraception and getting pg and it was fine for both. Does it maybe depend on how regular your cycle is?

I was actually wondering the other way round - am shortly to give birth and whilst we will probably have one more baby I do not want it to happen too quickly and don't want to go on the pill so was wondering when I can use persona again for contraception - would it be reliable while I was bf and before I had had my first period?

Your cycle changes around your mid thirties so it's not true to say that you ovulate at the same time as when you were in your twenties. Your cycle will become irregular and I don't think there is any 'safe' predicting time. Why don't you use condoms as well as persona - although I guess it's a bit late now. What will you do? Not that it's my business.

I've just looked on the persona website and apparently it is not reliable until you have had a third period and 3 cycles after being pg. not that that helps now I know.

I hope the use the term 'reliable' loosely. Nothing is 100% reliable and unless you get something more permanent then I suppose accidents will happen. Doesn't make dealing with those accidents any easier though does it?

They are quite clear about the percentages etc and that nothing is ever 100% - what I/they meant was that it is not reliable enough within their stated range until you have had 3 cycles in a row within a certain length range. I think they are quite clear that it is a method of contraception to be used only by people who would not be really upset to get pg unplanned - it is just mechanising natural family planning methods really isn't it. Again, this is not helping OP I know.

thanks, any other ideas apart from the Pill - don't fancy it and don't like the idea while bf, fertility issues etc. I fear the only answer is condoms.....

Depends if you want kids again. Condoms are shit, we use them. But I want him to get something permanent done as we don't want more kids. You could have the coil I suppose, or that implant that goes in your arm.

Condoms are not very reliable so you would need to be ok about the fact that an accident may well happen.

ive used the pill and condoms and got pregnant using both, it was however because i forgot my pill and didnt use a condom (oth just the once) i think ill go for the implant after i have this one as theres no chance of forgetting about it

I have always ovulated at day 12 so assumed this was the same (had all the signs etc). I am ok about having another baby, I just don't like being pregnant.
