Try drinking more water and if they remain let the midwife know. Most often it’s a symptom of iron deficiency

I used to get them pre pregnancy occasionally. I went to the doctors last week and she checked me over says everything seems fine. I just had a real intense one, which freaked me out.. it went crazy for a few seconds then settled itself back down. Pregnancy is hard!!!!!! X

I’ve been getting them the last few days, mostly at night. Got a bit of a cold and feeling so incredibly short of breath so not sure if I’m just generally a bit unwell but I’m just focusing on my breathing when they happen and waiting for them to pass, which they do. Think if they carry on the next couple of days I might speak to gp, as I’m not sure it’s a normal pregnancy thing? Reassuring that you got checked and they said it was fine!

Palpitations in pregnancy aren't uncommon and are usually harmless, the heart is pumping more blood than usual during pregnancy. It can also be caused by extra stress and anxiety in pregnancy too. I get them quite frequently when pregnant, and mine don't have any underlying cause. There's absolutely no harm in getting checked out to rule out underlying causes, and you should do so if you get them alongside other worrying symptoms as there can be underlying causes. But otherwise they can be quite normal in pregnancy.

Yes I have them all the time. I do get them occasionally when not pregnant, usually caffeine related if I have too much coffee or chocolate. I think mine in pregnancy are related to the anti sickness meds I’m on but it could just be one of those things.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I’m sure mine are anxiety related, but will keep an eye on them.
They just really freak me out and find it hard to relax once I’ve Gas one which I know makes it worse. Such a vicious cycle xx
