Erythema Ab Igne - hot water bottle rash / toasted skin syndrome!

So I think I have given myself Erythema Ab Igne, I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and have been using a hot water bottle a lot due to feeling uncomfortable most of the time.

I have pink / brown marks on my stomach and google tells me it is Erythema Ab Igne. I’m now worried these marks will not fade & I have damaged myself!

I’m seeing my midwife next week so will discuss it with her & see a doctor if necessary but does anyone have any experiences of this to share?

I’ve also posted this in general health but thought other women may have experience similar during pregnancy due to the pains / niggles.

Hi forever curious yes I had this and the marks will go away but it's important that you make your hot water bottles less hot! I got told off by Dr for it as it's due to having it too hot. Stop kettle before it boils and add cold water before you fill it. If continue it can lead to skin cancer

I got marks all over my tummy and legs. They are gone now

I'm a serial hot water bottle user too ;)

Little old ladies who sit Infront of fires often get it is what my Dr told me. It's from too much exposure to direct high temperature

I’m going to stop using it for a while and then use it less often with cooler water! You’re making me feel better thank you, How long did it take for the marks to fade? I’ve had mine for weeks now.
