5 Weeks, closed cervix HCG levels fine but bleeding

Hi,

After advice I can’t find my other post 😩

I am 5 weeks pregnant today I have been the A&E today due to period like bleeding and pain.

I had my HCG levels checked they was high and the doctor said it was fine she checked my cervix and it was still closed from the last time she checked. I have a scan on Monday she said we can’t really do anything until then, obviously am worrying like mad so I was just wondering if any one has had this before and went on to have successful pregnancy’s?

This is my first pregnancy btw so am all new to this I understand that there may be a chance of mc but I really hope this isn’t the case am praying that I am just one of them people that bleeds and everything is fine🤞🏼

Sorry can't be as much help but I had a bleed at 11 weeks which was bright red and automatically thought the worse. Currently 36 weeks 🥰. Wishing you all the luck with your pregnancy x

@FairyDust92 Congratulations! did you have any bleeding at the start of your pregnancy. The first cervix exam I had was fine I had that on Thursday the second however was horrible it hurt she couldn’t see my cervix and made a comment oh your cervix is slanted it was horrible!

Is there any chance you can bleed from that? I can’t stop worrying they say to go home and relax but it seems impossible to relax when all am thinking about if please don’t loose this baby

@KLR2019 thank you and no I didn't have any bleeding at the start of my pregnancy. I'm not sure about the cervix exam as never had one. I don't wanna say it could be that as I'm really not sure but my midwife mentioned it can be common to bleed after sex so could be linked to your exam your bleeding? I really do hope you have a sticky bean 🤞🏼 x

I had red bleeding at 5-6 weeks with my last pregnancy, then really heavy red bleeds again in second trimester. Baby was fine.

I’ve also had several miscarriages so I absolutely get why you’re worried, and it’s horrible being in limbo. If your cervix is closed and hcg is rising as expected though that’s a really good sign.

@FairyDust92 I really do hope it is I haven’t had sex since for 4 weeks it was the first time I had my HCG levels checked so am really hoping that because it was high it will be a good sign but I just feel lost at the minute like I don’t know what my body is doing. I really wish I could fast forward time but I just have to hope👏🏼

I know they say don’t google anything but it’s the only thing I have done xx

@53rdWay it’s such a relief to get other people in my situation or have been where I have been. I know it’s a personal question but when you bled what was it like?

At first it was spotting like brown then since my exam it’s been bright red almost the exact same as my period she couldn’t find my cervix today and said it was slanted but it really hurt today.

Also did you have a scan at 5 weeks? I don’t no what I should be expecting to see?

@KLR2019 of course, we all google everything and it always shows the most drastic things! I know it's easy to say but take it easy and try to relax. Best of luck to you and bubba x

Yeah, brown spotting followed by red early on. Didn’t have a scan there but I have with previous pregnancies at 6 and 7 weeks and could see a heartbeat for the successful one.

If the red bleeding has been happening since your first exam it’s likely that the exam bumped something in your cervix. There’s a lot of blood vessels there.

@53rdWay Yes the red bleedings been like this since my first exam it’s only like string when I go for a wee on my pad it’s light pink and not a lot. Every time I go for a wee it is coming out 😔 fingers and toes are crossed for this little one 🤞🏼X

Another question I’ve been trying to google but can’t find nothing, does your cervix open when you MC?

Yes, it does.

I had bleeding up untill 14 weeks, red off and on. Most stressful time, constantly went in to epu to get checked. Everything turned out fine and I now have a 2 month old baby girl.

@Wheredidthebackboobscomefrom thank you am not going to lie it was a shock at first and I have the best partner and we both said we can do this! Today he was like you just need to make sure your okay but my priority is hopefully this baby. I have been taking pregnancare since I found out so I hope that’s a benefit.

Just really want this after reading this I feel abit more relaxed thank god!

Yeah I had mild cramping which I'm guessing now was my uterus growing. I was very relieved when we saw the heartbeat in the scans. Having said that I'd have days with no bleeding and then bam it would start again which would set me off panicking again! I didnt really enjoy my pregnancy until after the bleeding stopped to be honest. X

@Wheredidthebackboobscomefrom it’s totally understandable any bleeding you would be like that. How often did you get scanned? I have this scan on Monday I’ll be 5 weeks done in a hospital then we have paid for a 7 week scan in a private clinic I know you cannot hear a heart beat until 6 weeks so we have that two weeks to wait if all goes good on Monday. Did the hospital put your bleeding down to anything?

Had numerous scans due to the bleeding. Better to know what's going on they said.

Mine all boiled down to having a very low lying placenta covering the cervix (couldn't confirm this so early on but as time went by it wasnt shifting). It only slightly moved towards the end of the preg but I went forward with an elective section anyway for other reasons.

@Wheredidthebackboobscomefrom oh that is good to hear, maybe I have that because today she said she couldn’t find the cervix where as the first exam I had it was right there and fine. It’s weird I would take any pain if I new that this baby would be okay.

So this morning I am still passing clots the first few was red but as the day has got on the are pink, there is nothing on my towel or when I wipe only when I go for a wee it comes out.

Has any one experienced this?
