Today I found out I was pregnant - wow! A whole mix of emotions but I am ultimately so excited. How would I know my exact conception date to see how far along I am?

The date of the first day of your last menstrual period (assuming you have a regular cycle). Otherwise you'll have to rough-guess it, until a dating scam gives you a clearer idea.

Dating scan, pardon me.

FairyDust92 · 22/06/2019 22:52

Congratulations!! 🤗
Same as what PP said. I did mine from first day of last period and ended up being 2 days out. You won't really know properly until dating scan 😁

Thank you both! @Tableclothing @FairyDust92 I've booked an appointment for the doc on Weds x

Go online & search for due date calculator. It’ll ask your LMP and cycle length. The date could change at your dating scan which will be a more accurate date based on the baby’s measurements. But mine was only 1 day out. I had been tracking so I did have a pretty accurate understanding of my cycle.

Congratulations!!

Thank you so much @PuffsMummie ✨ I tried doing that but I only came off the pill in January and had 3 cycles. The first was 35 days, second was 56 and third was 42. My last period started 18th May so it's super hard to guess. I estimate the last week of Feb, hopefully not a leap year baby!!

GPs don’t normally see you just for pregnancy. Ring and ask the receptionist on Monday but in most areas you just self refer to a midwife.

pia2018 · 23/06/2019 22:31

@hormonesorDHbeingadick I spoke to the local hospital to book directly in with a midwife and they were very rude and said no you are to see a GP first who will refer you to a midwife. Will call the doc tomorrow to be sure!

@pia2018 I went into the doctors not for an actual appointment but they gave me a referral form to fill in and hand back to them for the midwife. Not actually been seen by the doctors throughout pregnancy and I'm 36 weeks now. I was shocked tbh as thought you'd have to see the doctor haha.

pia2018 · 23/06/2019 23:43

@hormonesorDHbeingadick oh right! So should I just pop in and let them know? I thought they have to check how far along you are before they refer you. Are you excited? Not long to go now 😁
