17 weeks - still can’t feel movements

Hi Ladies,
I’m 17 weeks with my 2nd. Midwife asked me last week at my 16 week check up whether or not I’d felt movement which I hadn’t.
I had a private scan last Sat and baby was wriggling around and sonographer confirmed placenta at the back so not blocking any sensation. She also pushed down a little as she said sometimes you can feel movement better that way but nothing.
My rational brain is reminding me that I didn’t feel a definite kick until 20 weeks with my son, the other part (having had a m/c at 11 weeks last year) is getting worried.
Just wondered what others experiences are/were? xx

Hey! I was told at both my midwife appointments so far (am only 12 weeks) not to expect to feel any movement til 20 weeks so it's a bit strange they asked so early!

Everything I've read says 20 weeks (I'm FTM) so I wouldn't worry too much

Congratulations Thanks

I'm pregnant with my third, had my 16 week appointment last week and was told not to expect to feel movement for another couple of weeks. I definitely felt movement by 18 weeks with the other two but 16 seems early.

I'm 23 weeks first pregnancy and felt movement for the first time at 20weeks1day. I wouldn't worry too much. Others feel movements even later it just depends on where the baby is positioned

I felt nothing until around 21 weeks, and then nothing regular till about 24 weeks. And currently holding a very wriggly baby girl in my arms.

Easy to say now as I remember being very stressed but try not to worry!

Pregnant with my 3rd here, didn't feel a thing until 21 weeks! I was so worried but now she doesn't stop. I wouldn't worry Smile

I didn’t feel a thing until 23/24 weeks, then proper string movements from 26 weeks. Don’t worry at all.

ForeignBodies · 22/06/2019 20:49

I felt not even a flutter until 20 weeks with DC1 and 18 weeks l. Don’t worry!

motherofcats81 · 22/06/2019 21:48

My midwife asked me at my 16 week appointment on Friday too but then said "oops I'm thinking of the lady before you who was 36 weeks, yep you're too early to feel anything".

So now I just think I look massive but not worried about the lack of movement at least ☺️

christmashope · 22/06/2019 21:50

I didn’t feel movement with my son until I was 28 weeks gone, with my second son I felt movement at 26 weeks
Everyone’s different x

Drum2018 · 22/06/2019 21:54

As far as I recall I felt movement later on 2/3/4 pregnancy. Maybe its because I was a bit flabbier after No1. I wouldn't be concerned at all at this stage.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 22/06/2019 22:10

I didn't feel movements until after my 20 week scan.

Leleophants · 22/06/2019 22:31

21 and a half weeks and I still feel nothing!

Justus22 · 22/06/2019 22:37

4th baby and have never felt movements until 20 something weeks, sure all is fine. I've had anterior placenta twice too so that makes a difference early on as its cushioning the movements x

Frizzy1986 · 23/06/2019 12:32

I think I've read you should mention if you haven't felt anything by 24 weeks so they can check baby position etc.
I felt at 23 with my first but definite movement at 18 this time (I think I missed the flutters as I was so gassy)
But other people have been the opposite so different people and also different babies. Some are just much more chilled.
