Should I test again?

Hello, I am new to MN so unsure if I’m posting correctly. I have recently come off the depo injection as we are wanting to conceive our third child. I haven’t been tracking ovulation yet as I have only had one very light period since the injection ran out, so I believe my fertility is not back to normal yet.

I took a pregnancy test yesterday as felt a bit crampy and I am not sure what to make of the results. There is a faint line in the test area however the control line, although there, has a large block of colour missing. Would this make the test invalid? I have tested three times since this and all have been negative. I am not sure how to add images to this post so cannot show you all what I mean! Any help would be appreciated, many thanks!

@Rebs94 you have to be in Mumsnet for a little while or post a certain number of posts before you can attach pictures. Sounds like first test may have been invalid. When is your AF due?

Rebs94 · 21/06/2019 08:06

@Newbie21 my last AF came on 20th May and only lasted a couple of days, rather than my normal 8. My last depo was back in February and I know it can take a while for it to completely leave your system so haven’t been tracking ovulation at all.

Annoying that I can’t post pictures to show you what the test looks like! Haha x

I don't think you can until after 48hrs or 24... Can't remember.

But sure of the answer to your question though. Are they all the same brand of tests? Maybe give it a week and test again and monitor how you feel.

Cramping might just be your body getting back to normal. When i came off the pill i got really bloated and crampy for 2+weeks which was unusual but prob just by body resetting.

My only advice is not to become obsessed over pregnancy testing. Track your ovulation but don't wind yourself up over"waiting" for two weeks until you can test and getting all excited over what might be something or nothing. Leads only to disappointment. I say from experience and observing people here continuously working themselves up into a tiz every month.

Hopefully you will be successful this month though. That would be really great. Best of luck.

@fonxey I am trying not to become obsessive, it’s hard though as with my other two we only had to think about having a baby and became pregnant! In the weeks after coming off the depo I was having horrible withdrawal - headaches, abdo pain and nausea, I really regret choosing the depo, didn’t realise the detrimental effects it can have on your body!
Thanks for taking the time to reply x
