Waters gone at 31 weeks

I wrote a post on tuesday after coming into hospital after losing my mucus plug. They werent convinced it was that and told me my cervix was long and closed. Fast forward to 4am yesterday morning and my waters dramatically went and are still coming. Cervix is still closed and they are keeping me for 48 hours incase labour starts. They arent scanning me as i have a growth scan booked on wednesday and they will check water levels then.

Ive had steroid injections and if i dont go into labour ill be going home with oral antibiotics and try and keep him put until 36 weeks when he will be delivered by section.

My reason for this post is to see if this has happened to anyone else and how long they managed to go? This is my 2nd baby, my 1st was born at 42 weeks so this is a whole other ball game

It is positive that you have had the steroid injections.
You could contact the Bliss charity who helped me a great deal.
I know my friend managed to hold off for a short while? It is a difficult and stressful time for you, but try and rest as much as you can.

How are you op

coneywonder · 21/06/2019 12:28

Physcially okay but mentally a little wobbly

Not me but a colleague. She stayed on bed rest for a couple of weeks, then went into labour spontaneously at 34 and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Worlds0kayestmum · 21/06/2019 12:31

My waters didn't break but I did have an emergency section at 31weeks with my second. More than happy to chat about what to expect if you were to deliver if you like xxx (He is a perfectly healthy 2 year old currently trying to put his lunch in the bin now)

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2019 20:26

No advice but best of luck to you.

ScotsBaby2 · 21/06/2019 21:02

No advice but sending lots of positive vibes with even bigger closed cervix wishes! I'm 31 weeks too. It's only 6 weeks until term and less than a week until late preterm. Good luck mummy!

ScotsBaby2 · 22/06/2019 08:14

How are things @coneywonder ?

coneywonder · 22/06/2019 08:17

Im still in hospital and leaking waters but theres talks of me going home today. They want to deliver him at 36 weeks if he will hold on for that long but until then ill have to come back weekly for monitoring and ill have to check my temp at home and watch for signs of infection

That's good that you will get home.

coneywonder · 22/06/2019 14:13

Change of plan. Ive got to stay in now

I had this happen to me twice, one at 29 weeks and one at 30. Both times I was kept in hospital and delivered a week later. Very good you’ve had the steroid injections. The waters can replenish, when i was in one time there was a woman at 36 weeks who’d waters had broken 2 months before and she managed to hold on. Best of luck to you Flowers

coneywonder · 22/06/2019 17:49

Jammiebammie did you go into labour naturally after a week?

OP posts:
Jammiebammie · 22/06/2019 23:18

@coneywonder yes I did, both times.

Spongeb0b · 23/06/2019 09:43

Hi OP exact same thing has happened to me and I'm exactly the same gestation as you. Waters first then plug. They've let me go home and I'm on twice weekly monitoring, once a week scans, and had the steroids and the antibiotics. Feel like I'm in limbo

coneywonder · 23/06/2019 09:57

Oh gosh how bizzare we both in same boat. Im practically begging them to let me go home today so i can sleep tonight. The lack of sleep in here isnt doing me any good. Where abouts in country are you? It is your first?

Spongeb0b · 23/06/2019 10:02

I'm in the north and it's my second - was late with my first by a week so this is all very new to me! They did umm and ahh about keeping me in but I begged them not to and as I wasn't showing signs of infection & am 2 mins from hospital they were happy for me to go home, under instructions to go straight in if I had any signs of labour or infection. I'm signed off work as my commute deemed to bring on the leaks - now I'm just at home but scared to go too far just incase! Ps I found the steroids awful did you?? Did they say anything about waters sometimes replenishing themselves? One midwife said they could and another said they couldn't!! Feel like I get more info online than I do at my hospital!
