I’ve been displaying all the symptoms (from the NHS guidelines site) except increased BMI to suggest I might have GD. I’ve been an endocrinology nurse, so I’m fairly comfortable with the routine and I’m not overly alarmed (or surprised!)

I’m 20w4, and have my anomalies scan booked tomorrow.

Previously, my urine tests have been clear. Will my urine be tested again tomorrow, or should I book a MW appt separately for this? I am currently low risk overall, but I still have MW appts booked for 24, 28, 30 weeks etc which are routine for my trust.

No longer nursing, so a bit out of the loop and interested to know others’ experiences/advice.

@Sessy19, I have had to give a urine sample every time I’ve been for a scan - have you been told if you have an appointment at ANC after your scan? If not, why not ask if the clinic assistants will do a dipstick test on a urine for you while you’re there.

I had 2+ glucose and ketones in my specimen last week and they said it was likely to be the start of GD but, luckily, I had had a fasting glucose done at the GP’s that morning (because I was unwell at the weekend and GP decided to be cautious!) which came back negative so one less worry for a couple of weeks. I am having finger prick testing for 5 days around 28 weeks as I’m considered ‘high risk’ for GD (age, twins, bmi)

Thanks @Remember...that’s helpful. I can probably just pop in to the clinic after the scan and ask them to dipstick it. My appt is at 10 so I’ll give them a fasting sample (lucky folks!!)

It won’t hurt for you to start following a diet plan aimed at people with gestational diabetes. There is some guidance on the NHS website.

Had a dipstick done at the clinic after explaining my concerns. No indications of any GD.... so guess it’s just my turn in the pregnancy to start feeling tired and lethargic! 😊
