Been TTC (trying to conceive) just over a year with only having 1-2 period a year due to PCOS, I had a negative test on June 8 and had sex 14 days before that so thought this was pretty accurate, I had some breast pain at the time so thought I might be ovulating so TTC (trying to conceive) on 8 June, was cramping on 13th June and thought this could be implantation cramping so couldn’t help but take a test knowing 5 days after is way too early but it was positive! Triple checked, has this ever happened before? I checked on the evening too, was wondering if it could be twins and double the hormones that’s why it’s positive so early? Has this happened to anyone? Do you think it’s a more likely to be a late positive from 2.5 weeks before? What’s everyone conception and multiple pregnancy experiences?

According to the papers I’ve read (and I’ve read a few) it takes between 5-12 days from ovulation for a fertilised egg to implant and then it takes days for levels of hcg to be sufficient to be detectable ion urine tests. Therefore, you probably ovulated and conceived before the 8th but tested too soon for the urine to have high enough levels of hcg to show up as positive. The cramping on the 13th could be connected to implantation and the blastocyst burrowing into the endometrium.

I would get a First Response test which, at 6mIU/ml urine, is one of the most sensitive home pregnancy tests out there and test again with first morning urine.

I agree that's it's more likely to be a late positive.

For both my pregnancies, I tested with a FRER at 11 DPO. The first one was a singleton, whereas the second one started out as triplets - but that early on, the lines looked the same for both. I don't think even a multiple pregnancy would give a positive test at 5 DPO.

Thanks @Rememberallball and @powerslidepanda I’d be happy with one or two! Was just thrown by the negative on the 8th! Smile will probably book an early scan to confirm dates and reassure!

@Abcd133 it is VERY unlikely you were only 5DPO, but I did get my BFP at 7DPO so no one can say its impossible xx
