Leaking Breasts

Morning all. I'm 29 weeks pg with our first and experienced some leaking from my breasts last night. Whilst it's good to know that everything is in working order, it was a real shock to see it happen.

I guess that I was shocked by the change in "status" of my boobies. They'd always (well, since I was 17 anyway ) been a sexual thing and to see this change of function confused me somehow.

Does that make sense? Did anyone else feel this way when their breasts started to leak?

Absolutely 100% - I was really quite unnerved by it, yet DH (who claims they belong to him anyway!) seemed quite excited about the whole thing!

Mine started to leak at 16 weeks as well, which was even more unnerving! Bizarrely though, only coming out of my left breast. I've even started having bizarre nipple leakage dreams where my nipples are squirting everywhere and there's nothing I can do to stop it!

Completely freaked me out too - as you say, they've been for 'recreational purposes' up until now!!

On the downside, they will leak an awful lot more once you start bf-ing. But then the baby is here so it all makes sense then.

Enjoy your pregnancy.

thanks for the reassurance. I had really disturbed sleep last night (nothing about squirty anyone Naetha!) and am pretty convinced that it was due to this. It happened literally just as I was about to go to bed.

DH has also been feeling a little put off sex due to growing and active bump. He's very sweet and touchy-feely still but he's, without realising it I suppose, changing my status too. I know it's a temporary thing but it's a really wierd and upsetting feeling initially.

Funnily enough, some came out from the right booby and then I had this icy cold sensation from the left and whattaya know, some from there too. I know I'll get used to it and really appreciate you guys letting me know that I'm not the only one. Thank you.

Yeah my leakage only ever happens at night as well, and only when I'm asleep - I've never been able to squeeze any out on any of my (many) midnight loo trips!

RGPargy · 25/07/2007 10:38

When you have them leaking at night when you're asleep, how do you actually know they've leaked?? Is it just stains on the sheets or do you wake up in the morning all wet??

Naetha · 25/07/2007 13:13

Stains on the sheet and dried gloop on my nipples!

hayley2u · 25/07/2007 15:36

I AM LEAKING BIG TIME. been leaking since about 20 weeks. also get really sore boobs and when i massage them they just pour out of both boobs. quite embarrasing as goes through clothes x

theressomethingaboutmarie · 25/07/2007 16:14

It's just so wierd so suddenly, well, to suddenly produce "food" isn't it? Boobies used to be for fun - hence "funbags"

Ok this is probably a bit TMI but - am I the only person in the world whose boobs are, um, hot? As in hot to the touch compared to the rest of me as opposed to the Paris Hilton sense? They're quite pink, too.... Am I a lone freak or can this be normal?

Alfie72 · 25/07/2007 17:53

Nope, you aint alone, mine are burning sometimes, soemthing to do with the increased blood flow I am sure and mine itch madly sometimes too, not a good look putting your hand down your front at the bus stop !!
Mine look like sacs now too just to add to the attractiveness.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 25/07/2007 17:59

I had this from 20wks with my first, was quite upset to begin with and so embarrassed I made my poor DH go buy pads in Boots. Second time around I wore washable cotton pads instead.

Mine did this too, quick tip - put a towel under your sheet as it stains the matress! (well it was that or all the dribbling I started doing towards the end of my pg )
