What to expect at induction?

Hi ladies! I'm being induced tomorrow on my due date and I was wondering what to expect from start to finish when going in for an induction, this is my first baby so I'd like to be prepared.

What happens when you first get to the hospital? Do I need to take my hospital bag with me or should I not incase they send me home and get my other half to bring it in later? How long did it take for you to start having contractions?

Any information you can give me about your inductions would be great. Please no negative experiences as I don't want to worry Blush

Take a hospital bag. I got wizzed straight from having my blood pressure done to induction ten years and was left there without anything no good drink entertainment etc whilst they sorted a bed. It can take a while and if you have your comforts to hand you’ll be happier.

Hope it all goes well and you get to see your little one quickly :)

I won’t go into detail because my induction wasn’t pleasant.
But it was very very fast!!
I went into the hospital the evening before DC1 was born and had one of the peasant thing put in, which started some mild, niggly, period cramp-type contractions. Nothing much really happened after that, so DH went home and I went to sleep.
I was woken up the next morning around 7am being told they wanted to take me to the labour suite to get the synto drip going. DH met me there. Within a few minutes of the drip going in, full on contractions began. I’m quite a rarity, because my baby was born within 3 hours of the drip starting!
