Spotting and exercise

Hi, I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant and have been spotting brown/pink for three days, just on wiping. I'm obviously anxious about it, but not a lot I can do except wait and see.

I've been doing couch to 5k, I'm anxious about going running whilst this spotting is going on, but don't want to stop running. However if I do subsequently miscarriage I won't forgive myself. Am I being silly?! Advice appreciated thank you!

Hi electromagnetic,

Sorry to hear you are going through this, such a stressful time. I had spotting on and off throughout my first trimester and had an EPU scan which showed everything was moving along fine. Might be worth contacting your GP about the spotting, they may arrange for you to be seen by your local EPU.

With regards to running i ran throughout my first trimester and am still going regularly now, at 20 weeks. The midwives said there was no reason to stop as long as i felt comfortable and was used to this level of exercise. I suppose it might depend on how active you were before becoming pregnant.

Best of luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thank you. I'm still spotting away, I rang up but they just said I had to wait and see and scan in 2 weeks, so just keeping everything crossed.

Really don't feel like I can run until this stops or I've had a scan, which is frustrating but I think it would worsen my anxiety!
