So I've privately booked an early scan, I'm nearly 8 weeks I just want to make sure everything is okay as it doesn't seem real yet!!
We will also find out if there's one or two as I'm an identical twin and 3 sets in the family !!
I'm just so nervous !
Will there even be much to see at 8 weeks !!?
Has anyone had a scan this early ??

I had a scan at 7 weeks, because of pain (everything was fine, it was just ligament pain).

It was an internal scan, ie vaginal, but the probe thing wasn't uncomfortable or anything. Much easier than a smear test, for example.

We saw a circle with a little yolk sack, and a little flickering fetus that looked like a gummi bear!

Good luck!

2 flickering lights (twins)
I dont like tv scans find them uncomfortable and embarrassing. Unfortunately had a lot of them through ivf

I had a scan at about 7 or 8 weeks (because I'd had some bleeding) and it was internal. I was able to see two little blobs with flickering heartbeats which was a bit of a surprise!! It gave us a bit of time to get our heads round having twins before we told everyone at 12 weeks. Hope it goes well for you!

Yes, I've had abdominal scans at 8w in 3 pregnsncies. You can basically see a wee splodge with a flickering heart beat. Congratulations!

I had one at 6+6 and one at 7+6.
Here's the one from 7+6 - baby just looks like a prawn!

I had one at 9+2 could clearly see the heartbeat. It was done abdominally but she really had to push on my stomach.

noimaginationatall · 16/06/2019 10:03

I had one past week when I was 8 weeks. Abdominal scan, just a tiny little outline - was only 16mm so it really is tiny.

nespressowoo · 16/06/2019 10:05

Had one yesterday internally. Just saw a little flicker for the heartbeat and a yolk sac. I have a repeat scan in 2 weeks.

So now I'm even more confused !!!
Judging by my last period it puts baby at nearly 8 weeks, just had the scan (had to have internal) she puts baby at only nearly 6 weeks, she said everything looks healthy and normal for 6 weeks but was too soon to hear to heartbeat !!!
All I wanted to hear was that little heartbeat I really don't know how to feel, 2 weeks behind seems like forever!! I've been waiting so long just to get closer to that stage of knowing everything is okay but seems like I'm right back to the start x

Thats fab news that everything looks good, be happy and really try not to worry, the scans are 2 weeks behind a lot from what i understand as we're told to figure it out from last period but the scans are actual age if that makes sense? Huge congratulations!!! Enjoy every moment because when your little baby is here you want to look back on this as a happy time!!!!!

tomatan1990 · 16/06/2019 12:55

Sorry rainbow but that’s wrong, scans should be measuring the right number of weeks from your lmp. Dates can be out tho as you may have ovulated late Sam! Fingers crossed for you x

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 16/06/2019 12:59

2 weeks feels like forever but everything may be fine and you've just ovulated late as PP said. I think they can see a wee heartbeat at 7/8 weeks, if you can afford it you could go back for another in a fortnight just to make sure things are progressing properly?
