My anxiety is already at peak.

I ate a mini sausage roll from the fridge and just realised they went off 2 days ago. It tasted fine but I’m sat here feeling miserable as sin I’m going to get sick.

Don’t think i can cope with much more worry

I'm sure you'll be fine if it smelled and tasted ok. Not much you could do now anyway

Doje · 15/06/2019 18:46

You'll be fine. If it tasted fine, then it was fine.

If eat them at least a week out of date!

PotteringAlong · 15/06/2019 18:47

It’s 2 days ago. It’s a mini sausage roll.

In all honesty, when was the last time you heard of anyone being affected by a 2 day old sausage roll?

Kate3150 · 15/06/2019 18:48

I hope so I just feel I’m being given all these things to worry about and this is all I need today after feeling very emotional. I’m petrified of harming baby. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered... amazing what these hormones have done to me x

I know there’s probably millions of women who have eaten out of date foods. I’m just so on edge at the moment of something going wrong. I don’t care about me, only baby x

Just because it's past the use by date it doesn't mean it went off 2 days ago. They build in some contingency and something like a sausage roll will be full of salt which is a preservative and most likely some stabilisers as well. You'll be fine.

I recently cooked and ate bacon 2 weeks past its use by date with no ill effects whatsoever (though I'm not suggesting this would be sensible if pregnant).

I regularly eat yoghurt, cheese, ham a few days 'late' and it's always fine.

Newyearsameoldshit · 15/06/2019 19:03

The preservatives and salt in a sausage roll will keep it okay for longer than the use by date suggests, you will be fine!

DramaLlama32 · 15/06/2019 19:53

It's been in the fridge, so you will be fine 😊

Hmmmbop · 15/06/2019 23:18

You'll be fine, as will baby. Even if you got food poisoning, baby will be absolutely fine. There's very few illnesses that can affect baby.

Gave you spoken to anyone about your anxiety?

Kate3150 · 16/06/2019 04:39

@Hmmmbop- it’s on my notes, I’m going to the doctors this week to see what they say as it’s been quite high this weekend. Don’t really want to go on any medication but if it takes the edge off then so be it! X

I always eat out of date food. If it smells and looks ok and tastes ok obviously, it probably is! :) just try not to do it again if your worried šŸ™ˆ

ohdearymemumof3 · 16/06/2019 06:36

Ohh i made myself a chocolate nesquick milkshake the other morning. I thought it tasted a bit odd but i thought i may have put too much powder in it. Later when i went to the fridge ( after drinking all the milkshake ) the milk was out of date. I was fine though, wasnt sick and babys fine. So dont worry 😘.. i got reffered to a specialist mental health group of midwives called "the eden team" for my anxiety and depression. Still waiting for them to contact me!!! And i got referred at my booking in app which was at 8 weeks, im now 13weeksšŸ˜‘ useless. Deffo go to gp. Good luck xx

Jamhandprints · 16/06/2019 06:40

I don't think you'll be given anxiety meds while pregnant, OP. But some counselling or relaxation activities might help you.

Angelinthenightx · 16/06/2019 09:17

Dont worry most things out of date are fine to eat a while after and most things say best before ,my DH is a chef knows about saftey with food he says its fine.
Try and relax and not think about it x

Kate3150 · 16/06/2019 09:53

@ohdearymemumof3- gosh that’s really bad you’re waiting that long. Did they say how the team could help?? I feel I just need something to help me relax. I bought some rescue remedy but no idea if that’s safe. I had a shit night late because of the sausage roll šŸ˜‚, I know it’s not funny but when I write it down it seems so silly! Managed to watch a film with my lovely hubby, whilst stroking bump. Just hope he or she is ok in there xx

Just an update for all the lovely ladies who took an interest in this thread. Felt ok today so hopefully the sausage roll drama can be put to bed!
Also trying to chill out a bit, I had a fast heart rate pre pregnancy and it’s the same as before but have somehow convinced myself it’s anxiety? So just trying to relax and remind myself my body is just doing its normal thing but working a bit harder now 😊

PS, I had an ecg a while back and nothing sinister came up. I just have a faster heart rate. Only really comes down when I’ve done some hardcore exercise which is hard when preggers!
