Any one know where I can get a review of maternity services at my local hospital?

I didn't watch the midwife program last night because I didn't want to scare myself but after reading the reports on here I just wondered if theres anywhere I can check out how good/bad my local hospitals are.

Would really appreciate any help. I've googled but can't find anything.

You can get the basics here. I don't know of any user review type websites, though - except Mumsnet, that is!

Thats great, thanks Gizmo gonna have a look now.

Each main hospital should have its own MSLC (maternity services liaison committee) which should, at least, be able to point you in the right direction.

jellyjem · 24/07/2007 16:44

So do I need to ring them and ask for the MSLC?

I think so jellyjam - I joined my "local" MSLC but then moved house before I was able to attend my first meeting - it was organised by the head of midwifery services - you could ask to speak to her secretary and explain what you are after - that might be the best way to go.

thank Miaou. I had hoped to find something on tinternet but lucked out.

there is notoriously little on the internet tbh! Mears often puts up a good link that gives you about as much info as you can get (actually, I think that's the one Gizmo has linked to) but that's really about it.

www.birthchoice.co.uk

eleusis · 24/07/2007 17:01

Oh no. It's not there anymore. And it was such a great site.

I'd go with Dr. Foster I guess.

it's www.birthchoiceuk.com/

Thank you, thank you, thank you - thats just the kind of thing I've been looking for. I chose which hospital to go to by following my GP's advise and didn't really look into it myself so I just wanted to check they were okay. The one I'm going to is better than average so its really put my mind at rest.

Jem xx
