5.5 weeks and bleeding

Morning and happy friday! :)

Had a bit of a bleed yesterday evening and am at 5.5 weeks. I'd say it was a bit more than spotting but not quite a flow...has anyone else experienced this? It only really happened when I went to the loo in a 3 hour window and was all bright red.

I had an appt last night at the out of hours GP service at my local hospital who has referred me for a scan this morning but until then I can't concentrate on anything!

Thank you

Bleeding can be fairly common in early pregnancy. I had a bit of red spotting around 5 weeks with my son and went on to have a straightforward pregnancy. Wishing you lots of luck for your scan today - what time is it? x

Just to warn you, 5.5 weeks is very early for a scan so it might not be that reassuring depending on what they can see. Don’t panic if they say you need to come back in a week or two. Good luck.

Thank you both :) it's at 10.50 so working from home this morning. Yes trying to prepare myself it might still be too early and will need to go back x

I had this earlier this year at 5weeks, I started spotting and then went into bleeding for 24hrs. Everything stopped and turned out fine, I'm now 19weeks pregnant.

Make sure they take your HCG levels then test again 48hours later as all being well your levels should more or less double in that time. I then got tested 7 days later to be absolutely sure. I also had a scan early but they made me wait until 6weeks. My cycles have never been regular so think it was my progesterone dropping slightly.

Best of luck for you later on 😘 x

I had spotting early on then a huge heavy bleed at 10 weeks, even the doctor at a&e was convinced I was miscarrying but they couldn't fit me in for a scan for 48 hours! Turned out to be a subdural hematoma but scan showed all was well with the baby.

Starlight2004 · 14/06/2019 10:00

Sorry subchronic hematoma, in the uterus not in my brain! 🙂

Thanks all. Turns out it was an implantation bleed that hasn't been reabsorbed and I'm not as far along as thought. Closer to the 4/5 week mark than 5/5.5.

Sonographer not worried but wants me back in 10 days because she couldn't see a yolk sac completely and without that she wasn't legally allowed to say if it's viable or not.

Thanks again all :)
