Pregnant and diabetic

I have just found out that I am 3 weeks pregnant after only trying for 1 month. Unfortunately my joy has come down with a bang as I have also just found out I am type 2 diabetic.

I am so excited about being pregnant and having a family but I am now petrified that something will go wrong.

Is there anyone who has been pregnant/is pregnant who has diabetes who can help me to not panic so much?

I'm type two and currently almost 21 weeks pregnant. On insulin and metformin. Apart from having to be consultant led, no home birth option and extra scans things seem to be going OK.

Don't worry, they will keep a close eye on you.

I had two perfectly healthy babies and I am type 1. Try not to worry, you and the baby will be monitored closely throughout your pregnancy. Congratulations Smile

@Knickersononeshead @MusterTheRohirim I almost had a little cry at my desk then I was so happy to read your messages!

I am such a worrier that I am just prepared for the worst. I have an appointment with a diabetic midwife tomorrow morning so hopefully she will make me feel at ease.

@livloves87 I'm type 1 and 7 weeks with my first. As PP said they keep a close eye on you so you don't need to worry!

I'm struggling with lots of hypos at the moment so it obviously has it's downsides but just got to keep going for baby's sake, here if you want to chat Smile
