Hospital bag - what to pack (July)

Hi,

I've looked online but they have such a huge list of things that surely I won't need for the baby.

I am due in July so may be very hot. Baby is coming up as being born at 9lbs but I know that isn't always accurate.

What shall I pack for baby?

I'm due in July as well, and haven't packed hospital bag yet but this is my list for baby:

  • few newborn / up to 1 month baby grows / vests
  • few 0 - 3 baby grows / vests (in case baby is too big for the newborn!)
  • mittens and cotton hats
  • cellular blankets
  • nappies
  • water wipes
  • muslin cloths

I think that's about it. They don't need much at first, and hopefully should be able to go home quickly. If we end up staying longer, DH will have to bring some extra clothes and nappies, but I think that's it really. I've seen people having things like a top and tail bowl in their hospital bags (how did they even fit it in?!), which I think is excessive. Just take the basics is what I'm going for!

Ah yes I think I'll go with the same!

Also - I’m not breastfeeding so do I need to take bottles and formula??

@Mrbumpoid I know my hospital have said they can't make the formula so to bring pre made bottles in. They're in Asda/ Tesco etc

This type for example :)

For my DD I took

Mix of tiny baby/ newborn vests and baby grows (we were told she’d be around 6lb)
Few hats and mitts
Socks
Two blankets
Nappies
Wipes
Plenty of Muslim cloths/bibs

My hospital provided premade bottles you just had to tell them what formula you planned on using so may be something to check.

Specifically for baby I've packed:
2 newborn vests
2 newborn sleepsuits
2 0-3 vests
2 0-3 sleepsuits
1 0-3 romper
Hat, socks and scratch mitts
Muslins
Water wipes
Nappies
Nappy cream
Blanket
Swaddle wrap thing

Might not use all the clothes with it being July but they take up so little space I thought I'd pack them and see. She's predicted quite big so made sure I had some in both sizes.
