Morning Sickness

I am currently about 6 weeks pregnant. There have been 3 separate occasions where I have had a wave of nausea which has literally only lasted about 5 seconds, and then I’m immediately fine again. Is this normal for morning sickness?

It’s so quick and random, I sometimes wonder if i’ve just Imagined it.

From what I’ve heard and read, I feel that for a lot of woman, morning sickness is something that lasts a lot longer or is more frequent. Did anyone else have nausea like this during their pregnancy?

@BeckyP321 yes with my DS that's all I had every now and then plus gagging when I brushed my teeth! I was never sick. I know a lot of ladies have it a lot worse. Hopefully yours doesn't get much worse but it is early days I'm afraid so it might get worse.

@Newbie21 Thanks for this, I have no pregnant symptoms at all, except for these instances of nausea which are over so quickly, and I haven’t had many. The lack of symptoms is making me anxious about whether everything is okay after I miscarried my first pregnancy

Don’t worry about lack of symptoms. Count yourself lucky! With my first no symptoms other then missed period! And she is now 7. Second I felt barely sick in the evenings (he is 5). Now with my third I have really sore boobs and feeling a little more sick. I’m 12 weeks now.

@BeckyP321 I understand the want for symptoms. After DS I've had 3 MCs last year. I'm now very early days pregnant again (5+4) and am desperate for morning sickness even though I never had it previously.

I was the same as you, very little symptoms and then it hit me with a bang. I feel sick all day every day. It’s horrendous. I’m really struggling to get through the day! It hit me at 6 1/2 weeks.

Thanks for your replies. I’m not feeling overly positive about this pregnancy as I should be around 6 weeks now and I did a clear blue digital this morning and about 1 week ago and both are saying 1-2 weeks, so hcg doesn’t seem to be increasing. I’ve got an early scan at the end of the week so keeping my fingers crossed it’ll be ok.

@Newbie21 When is your scan btw?

I had one day of spotting early on (under 5 weeks) and given my history (3 MCs) I was referred to EPU last week and had HCG blood tests done and a scan. HCG level went up over the 48 hours between the tests as it should and the scan showed a gestational sac and a yolk sac which for 5 weeks plus 3 days was absolutely fine. I would have liked to have seen a heartbeat but it was a little early. We go on holiday on Sat but EPU have booked me in for a follow up scan on 1st July so hopefully all will be well by then and I'll be just passed the 8 week mark. I don't have any symptoms really apart from the odd bit of nausea, sore boobs (very slightly) and bloating but I never get symptoms with any before. I really wish I would but to be honest isn't really a sign of anything. We just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. I take it a day at a time and today, as far as I am aware, I am pregnant :-)

@Newbie21 That’s great news that the scan showed you both sacs and everything so far is looking good. I’m really happy for you. It feels like such a long time between now and 1st July but it will fly by :) Let me know how it goes and enjoy your holiday x
