Being induced at 37 weeks

Hi all,

I'm looking for some similar experiences, I'll try and keep it brief.

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and the consultant told me yesterday I am to be induced Thursday due to baby not growing much since last scan, they've estimated her weight at 5lbs... until now she's been growing nicely so when he told DP & I we were both in shock and again at being induced so early/quickly.

I also suffer from a long term health condition which has been managed throughout and will mean I have to have an epidural to avoid exhaustion during labour.

The scan we had before seeing the consultant showed that the cord was wrapped around baby's shoulder and leg and is likely why the placenta is now failing and she's not getting what she needs, so they think she's best being born and being fed, which I completely agree with.

I'm just looking for some advice or experiences of similar circumstances and if a baby of 5lbs was 'ok'? I'm petrified she's not going to be ok when she's born etc!

Thank you

At 37wks your baby is classed as full term so she will be fine just the same as being born at 40wks so dont worry x

I was induced at 37 weeks as dd had stopped growing. She was 4lb6oz and was/is absolutely fine. Hope all goes well - I'm sure it will.

Thank you Smile I'm a FTM so very nervous and worried she'll be so small she'll be kept in neonatal... not what I thought would happen Sad
