Has anyone had any experience of going for a very early scan to not see anything (PUL) and going back and seeing a pregnancy? Google says you wouldn't get a positive test without implantation occurring.

You won't see anything until around the 5th week of pregnancy, embryo is too small xx

I had a scan yesterday at 5+4 yesterday. All that was visible was the gestational sac and the yolk sac which is what they would expect for these dates. No definite fetal pole visible but the sonographer thought she could just see where the embryo would be. I am being rescanned at 7+1 to confirm.

Teddybear45 · 11/06/2019 10:10

How early was the scan? Seeing nothing at 5 weeks is unusual in the event of a pregnancy unless you had a stupid sonographer who gave you an abdominal scan, or you got your dates wrong.

By 7-8 weeks you should definitely be seeing something even if your dates were wrong.

Eggshellnutmeg · 11/06/2019 10:12

I had this, early scan showed nothing, however it turned out it was too early, a later scan showed pregnancy and heart beat.

PrayingandHoping · 11/06/2019 10:23

As teddy said.... was the scan internal or external. External scans are not accurate at an early stage.

Internal you should be able to see something from around 5 weeks but you do have to take into account late ovulation etc and you aren't as far as as you think you might be

niamhzs · 11/06/2019 12:09

@Teddybear45 @PrayingandHoping unsure how far gone, as had a mc on 7th May. The lady said she saw something which might have been the start of pregnancy so she wants to scan me in 48 hours ( which is tomorrow) My bloods come back at 1510hcg 90.6 progesterone. I think I could only be about 4 weeks pregnant if that. Maybe that's why could really see anything.

Sorry was internal too

That is v early. I would think that will be your reason.

You should see something 5/6 weeks and a heartbeat at 7

Good luck!

Angelinthenightx · 11/06/2019 13:35

5+1 i had a sac then at 7+1 heartbeat was there. So yeah maybe it was just too early x

Lovemartina2012 · 11/06/2019 17:08

I had scan at 5 weeks only could see sac so I wouldn’t worry as it’s early days

Sheep90 · 11/06/2019 18:39

I'm 5+6 (but ovulated late so more like 5+3) and had both an internal and external scan today. It appears I have an unusual shape uterus so they had a hard time locating anything! They found a sac but nothing else so they're going to scan me again in 2 weeks.

niamhzs · 12/06/2019 18:21

Update.. saw the gestational sac thank goodness! Hcg levels have doubled. Looks like I'm going in the right direction.

That's good news @niamhzs

Sunshine3105 · 13/06/2019 12:19

Mine at 6+1 and we had a hearbeat too....

Nothing on scan.
niamhzs · 13/06/2019 14:06

@Sunshine3105 I'm going back next week as I'm away on holiday the following, when I will be 6+3 hoping to see a heartbeat then!
