Help, no 12 week appointment

I'm almost 9 weeks and my referral was supposedly sent 2 weeks ago by my GP but the hospital is saying they have no record of it, most of the time no one even picks up the phone. The Gp surgery have left it to me chase and I have no idea what to do!

I feel completely let down

Ask for your local Midwife’s number. GP surgery should have it. Then call the midwife. They are the magic fixers of all things like this as far as I can tell

Did you have a midwife booking-in appointment? If so, have you contacted the midwife?

Do the hospital have any option for self referral or are there any other hospitals locally that do?

The 12 week scan can be used for accurate dating up to 13 weeks 6 days and they will usually try hard to fit you in by then.

If every hospital is insisting on a GP referral you will just have to keep harassing your GP until they resend it, but many hospitals will accept a self referral.

Nope haven't seen the midwife at all, and in my area you never see the same one anyways. The numbers I was given to call I've been calling everyday for a week but they're always busy, it's so frustrating.
I finally got through to the scan department and she checked and said there was no referral for me and that I need to check with my gp which I did, and they're insisting they sent it and I need to chase the antenatal department, which never pick up. So I'm just stuck in limbo

can you go down there at all? not ideal I know. try not to panic. your 12 week scan can take place up to 14 weeks to get the measurements and your booking in appointment is mainly blood tests, urine test and family history so should have wiggle room for that too

PixieDust26 · 10/06/2019 19:05

The doctors need to re-refer you as an urgent case. Just ask them to do that as it shouldn't have been you chasing your referral at all 🤨

So I've finally figured out what the issue is, my GP sent my info as an E-referral via the online system which the hospital (The Royal London) is supposed to be using, however after speaking to someone in the scan department it turns out they don't take referrals that way and I need to fill out a form and send it via email! How can there be so much confusion? If I hadn't been chasing them I would have missed my date probably!

So apparently I can self refer so I've found the form and will email it to them myself, fingers crossed they get it 😓😓😓 what a head ache
