Hello!

I’m 29 weeks pregnant currently and my baby boy has a branchial cyst in his neck. I’m waiting on an MRI to tell me a bit more about how it’s impacting his breathing tubes (can’t remember the technical terms!)

But the two outcomes that were mentioned to me by the ENT surgeon and the midwife were either: draining the cyst in the womb (and removing completely after the birth) or an EXIT procedure.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of either? Or a similar condition in an unborn baby? The consultant said he’d only seen one before and I’m finding it hard to find any comparable stories!

Bump for you.

Sorry I have no experience or advice I'm really sorry to hear your baby has this cyst.

Did they tell you of any risks?

Not sure what what you mean by exit procedure

It may be worth you getting a second opinion what's the next step in your plan?

Hugs x

Hello!

I'm also facing an exit procedure due to a cyst in my babies mouth. Would love to connect- there is so little info online. How are you getting on? I'm currently 26 weeks.

My baby was born with a cyst in his mouth. It was taken out under general at about 6 months. No problems and never reoccurred. Sorry this is not really similar. Hope whatever procedure you have goes as smoothly as ours did. Flowers

I don’t have any experience of this during pregnancy but I have a branchial cleft cyst that only popped up when I was 27 year old I’m now 29 and I just have the cyst drained if it gets too big as I’m not keen on having surgery (but will probably have to in future) mine doesn’t effect my breathing. If I was you I would wait until he is born then look into options from there obviously only if his breathing is fine as draining when pregnant sounds a little risky to me.

Hope all goes well :)

@Firsttimemama88 hello! Just saw this reply!

There’s pretty much nothing on Google, so frustrating. I’m 33 weeks now and the plan is to drain the cyst in utero at 38ish weeks using a big ol’ needle, yay.(first came at 39 so they don’t want to leave it too late) And then induce the next day in case it fills up again.
Not looking forward to being induced but weighing it up, sounds a bit less intense than an exit procedure.

Have they given you a plan yet? Definitely going with the exit procedure?

Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply tulio! Cyst doesn’t seem to be growing much, if at all which is good. I go for an mri next week and the week after that I hope
They will make a plan. Exit procedure still possibly on the cards- yikes! How are things your end @Tulio?
