Hey all! I just had my 34 week appointment check up and when I had the Doppler reading the baby's heart beat sound like galloping horses. That is the first time the heart beat galloped, before it was a regular rhythm. Her heart beat tracked on the Doppler was 140bpm. My MD said it was normal but I have had friends whose baby was born with a heart defect and just wanted to make sure nothing else is going on. Is a galloping heart beat normal at 34 weeks???

Yes. The smaller the animal, the faster the heartbeat. Your heartbeat slows as you grow. Mice have crazy fast heartbeats and elephants have slow ones. Its all proportional to body size
