I'll be breastfeeding - if possible - but do not want to be falling pregnant again for a good while.

Previously I had the implant, but it took me 5 months to ovulate after it came out, which I found a hard wait - I know it's not that long but it was the not knowing when it would happen I hated. Don't want to start using condoms, so I suppose the pill.

Just curious what people did or are planning to do for this?

I went on the pop pill after DS2 (11 months) not going to lie it was hell for me. Soooo miserable and my mood was up and down like a yo yo. Pregnant with Baby 3 now buy will be having the coil again after this baby as not sure we want more or at least we'll be waiting a good few years.

Mini pill, depo, implant, mirena coil all ok. Apparently Combined pill can be used after 6 weeks but used to be advised not until 6 months

Teddybear45 · 06/06/2019 22:09

Why not stick to condoms and spermicide gels for a bit. Probably a good idea to let your hormones get back to normal after the birth - can take at least 6 months.

RMarieClaire · 06/06/2019 22:18

@Mintypea5 that's what I was worried about. Even the implant can make me a bit all over the place at first, but the pill was awful.

@Teddybear45 keen to avoid condoms if I can for environmental reasons, but it's not out of the question at first - I'm guessing we won't be having sex all that much for a while!

im going to get the 3 monthly injection, i had my first baby last July ... was breastfeeding and fell pregnant again a month after birth so now i'm going to have 2 under 1 for a month and will definitely be getting contraception sorted before any special time with the husband.

Triskaidekaphilia · 06/06/2019 23:51

We will be using condoms as I'm not keen on hormonal contraceptives, and we want a small gap between DC if possible. When done with DC I might try a copper coil.

Hmmmbop · 07/06/2019 08:44

I did the mini pill after both, but was on it before I got pregnant so I know it works for me. I don't bleed on it and my mood and IBS really stabilise, I love it! I want to take it forever!

Sleepycat91 · 07/06/2019 09:02

I wouldnt touch the depo injection with a barge pole. I went from a size 10/12 to an 18 within a year, they finally admit now it causes weight gain. X

dementedpixie · 07/06/2019 09:18

I also put on a lot of weight with depo and it made me bleed all the time too

Pinkvoid · 07/06/2019 10:35

I was going to pluck for the copper coil but I really didn’t like the notion of anything going near my foo for a while Grin. We’ve just stuck to condoms until I feel ready. The implant was awful for me in the past and I’m rubbish at taking pills.

Newyearsameoldshit · 07/06/2019 15:07

I went on the mini pill - no idea if that added to my low mood and zero libido or if I would have been like that anyway.

hammeringinmyhead · 07/06/2019 16:57

Mini pill for me. I've just got another 6 months as still breastfeeding. Not sure after that - they are pushing the coil but I'm not convinced.
