Painful sex

I'm 31 weeks and me and my partner have just recently started having sex again (since before it was around the second trimester)
The first time was very painful and my parts (tmi) had become very swollen afterwards. We've had sex three more times and it's so painful down there, it stings! Even foreplay hurts as I feel so tight. I wonder if it's because we had went off it for a while.. has anyone else experienced this in pregnancy?

Ive experienced painful sex almost since I first found out I was pregnant at around 8 weeks. me and dp have had sex probably less than 10 times since then and I'm 34 weeks.
I asked my midwife and she tested me for thrush but it came back clear so all she could think of was that because the baby was putting pressure on everything and possibly making me a bit more tense.
So its quite annoying because it seems like the only thing that will stop that is giving birth!

I remember thinking that the texture of my vagina was changing, it was super sensitive and naturally swollen. DOn't know how to explain it. We used a gel, pharmacy over the counter, and it helped but def. had to be very gentle.
