Pregnancy Pillows

I've been having a hard time sleeping on my side. I'm a belly sleeper normally and i can't wait to get back to sleeping on my belly frankly!

Anyway, only 12wks bit already finding sleep uncomfortable to put Abby pressure on belly. Also I've always found sleeping on my side makes shoulders painful.

Since being pregnant though i think the relaxin has loosened then up but maybe that is fading now?

Anyway, i think I'd like to try a pregnancy pillow, one i can use alongside my normal pillow as support. I have a firm foam pillow and it helps my neck. I can't sleep on anything too soft or giving.

I've been putting another pillow between my legs to give my hips some support otherwise my body twists into a strange position that rests to much on my tummy. I think my back (which is another thing i see becoming an issue) need some support too.

I was looking at this one www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/dreamgenii-maternity-and-feeding-support-pillow-d9531.html

Does anyone have any experience with this or can recommend others? It's kinda expensive. But at least it says can be used for nursing so might have an extra purpose.

Yep

Dreamgeniiis are the bomb; they use them in neo natal care as well so they’ve got medical approval of their versatility.

I also have a Theraline - more “triangular” but just as good.

I have a dream genii and was totally dependent on it for sleep. Also I had to put a duvet under the fitted sheet to increase softness of bed. My bed isn't even hard but when pregnant it felt I like a rock. DH not best pleased 🤷‍♀️but what can you do!?

fonxey · 05/06/2019 06:13

They might be a solution for me actually. I have a very firm foam, orthopaedic bed. Great for front sleeping but i guess a bit hard and unhinged in the shoulders! I always hated soft beds though, gives me back ache.

Ok i saw a few reviews and bought the dream genii for a bit cheaper on Amazon. I might see if i can put on a softer thing on my mattress maybe too. Dumb shoulder.

I got this one only a few days ago but already feeling like it’s a lifesaver. I usually sleep on my back and struggling with sleeping on my side but this kind of wedges you into position & after weeks of struggling to sleep I’ve had a great night sleep the last few nights so would defo recommend.

I disagree the dream genie is the biggest pile of shit going!

winewolfhowls · 05/06/2019 21:39

I ended up preferring a spare duvet rolled up tbh.

I hated my dreamgenie too to the extent I've washed the cover and put it all away...I'm 38 weeks but know it won't be back out before baby arrives! Just ended up tangled in it 😂

I just got a little wedge pillow from Mothercare to pop under my bump. But I should say I'm naturally a side sleeper and I've been really lucky with minimal aches and pains so the wedge has just been needed to stop the weight of my bump pulling down too much iyswim.

I caved and bought a bbhugme. It is indeed excellent - you can adjust the firmness, which is great.

I feel like a mug for spending £100 on a bean bag, but a week+ of poor sleep and I was ready to try anything!

MBM18 · 06/06/2019 08:06

I had this pillow too OP and really recommend. I got so used to sleeping with it that I carried on using it for a while once the baby was here Grin

qj17 · 06/06/2019 08:19

@Heyha totally agree with you. I get tangled in it every night and it's just crap a normal Vshaped pillow would have been much better.

fonxey · 06/06/2019 08:27

I'm thinking the dreamgenii will be better for me than the v shaped one as i don't want to replace my current pillow.

Head a shit night again last night, woke up feeling like death. Head bloody hurts. So i can't wait for this thing to arrive and it better work. Grumpy
