Hey ladies;

I'm roughly four weeks pregnant, very very early of course. Previously miscarried and I am extremely worried and scared over my cramps.

Have anyone else experienced cramps at this stage? I'm a wreck! X

Most of us I think! I've just had some quite bad cramping though I think it might be wind Blush but I've had something pretty much every day since about 10dpo and I am around 5 weeks now.

I was four weeks last week, had really bad cramping and sickness - I thought I had a tummy bug until I did a test. Apparently it’s due to increase in progesterone - it slows your digestion down so causes IBS symptoms - cramping and bloating. Plus can be combined with implantation pains! Keep smiling! X

Cramping and spotting in early pregnancy can be considered normal if you have a retroverted or tilted uterus, but if you don’t have that you should really let your GP or MW know. In fact let them
Know regardless.

I had baad cramps for 3 days at 5 weeks, they felt like bad period cramps, they would wake me in the night and i couldnt get back to sleep because they hurt so much! This is my 3rd pregnancy and i cant remember having that with my last 2 so i got so worried i was going to mc but it was fine. I am now 11+3 and in bed cramping at the moment hence why im on mumsnet at 12:30am 🙄 its worse if i lay on my back, i do have pcos so maybe something to do with that i dont know.

I'm 4 weeks 3 days and also had cramps for last few days. I've also miscarried (3x) before so the cramping scares me. Comforting to know others experience it. Fingers crossed these little ones are just getting settled in for the next 8 months!

I've had cramps since 3 weeks and I am now 5+2. I've just spent the last 45 minutes rocking on the floor and getting anxious about leaving the house as I never know when they will happen. I have IBS as well which doesn't help.
Spoke to my GP last week who thinks it is constipation and advised me to take lactulose, I even bought prune juice yesterday it's vile.
I don't know what to do wether to go back to the GP or not. I'm not sure what else they can do.

Newbie21 · 05/06/2019 07:32

@L00byL0u the fact you are rocking on the floor with the cramps I would definitely go back to GP. It likely is constipation and nothing to worry about but if you are anxious and in real pain rather than just uncomfortable I see no harm in speaking to doctor again.

Oh girls it's so refreshing to know I'm not the only one,

My cramps are bareable, I do get the occasional one where I'm like wow that's painful but more often than not they're just there in the background not really bothering me too much. They aren't completely persistent they do come and go but I've had this cramp im experiencing right now for around 20 mins.

Also, TMI but I find if I pass wind the cramps ease slightly? Anyone else experience this?

  • it's just my nerves, I can't even bare the thought of losing this baby. I'm so scared and so worried but now that I know it's not just me and we're all in the same boat I'm feeling a lot less anxious.

Hopefully now we'll just ride it out and it will all work out and be perfectly fine.

Thank you ladies.

@Newbie21 I think your right I will have to call my GP again see if there is anything else I can do. It's because I'm a nurse I worry I'm wasting their time but I think my job also makes more anxious about stuff as i work in ED you see lots of pregnant women coming in and their issues and makes me paranoid.

@taylz12 yes when I have cramps and pass wind or open my bowels it does ease it most of the time. That's what I have with IBS to, so hard knowing what symptoms are related to what and I can't take my IBS meds whilst pregnant. I started having prune juice yesterday which is vile but hoping it helps. I get a lot of cramps most of the time bearable but other times I have to sit down at work for 20-30 minutes waiting for it to pass and it's getting hard coming up with excuses. Plus as it's healthcare I think people are staring to guess.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 05/06/2019 08:54

@taylz12 I had terrible cramps up till 12 weeks. And horrendous tramped wind. I used lactulose which really helped. Honestly some days the pain was so bad I didn't know how baby would stay in there.

I've had very painful trapped wind and constipation throughout my pregnancy. I'd recommend getting that under control. I was amazed what pain that put me in and how I thought it was "cramps" but all bowel Blush related.

I had a few episodes of bleeding and was told bleeding with no cramps wasn't necessarily leading to something bad.

And cramps without bleeding was really common and not to worry.

I'm now 35 weeks so try not to worry.

Newbie21 · 05/06/2019 08:58

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts that is very reassuring! Thank you.

@taylz12 let us know how you get on and whether the lactalose does the trick!
