They’ve booked my 12 weeks scan for before I’m 12 weeks

I’ll be 11+5
Will that be a problem? I’m not even sure who to ring as I’ve been messed about a bit in terms of midwives and appointments.
I will ring the hospital if I need to but thought I’d ask if this is normal first ?

Totally normal! They're normally around 10-14 weeks.

AndBeholdAWhiteHorse · 04/06/2019 13:01

It is normal to have between 10 - 14 weeks. If you're worried though ring and say you can't make it and ask for a later appointment. I did this because my first scan was 13+6 and I didn't want to be left that late in case I was dating wrong and I couldn't have certain tests done. They changed it to an earlier appointment for me no problem.

Dec2019mumtobe · 04/06/2019 13:01

I just had my scan at what I thought was 11+5.

It was absolutely fine. Though she re-dated me 12 weeks. (So two days ahead).

Worst case scenario, if they can't get the measurements they'll ask you to come back a week later x

DappledThings · 04/06/2019 13:01

It's fine. There's a good chance they'll adjust your dates based on the scan anyway and you might find you're officially 12+1 or something

Angelinthenightx · 04/06/2019 13:02

This should be fine im sure a few days either way wont do much,if your worried about it tho then give your midwife a call.
I had my scan at 12+1 ,they just check size of the baby that matches up with your dates etc & if u want the downs test done etc that blood test gets done the same day x

PrayingandHoping · 04/06/2019 13:05

That's fine.

If it does turn out to be too early (if your dates were wrong and you're not as far on as you thought) they'll just ask you to
Come back another time

JustTheCrowsAndTheBeef · 04/06/2019 13:06

That won’t be a problem at all. The window to measure nuchal translucency is between 11 weeks and 13+6.

CFlips · 04/06/2019 13:22

I don't have my first midwife appt until I am 11 weeks and don't have a scan booked yet. Does anyone know if they are quite quick at booking you for a scan after your first appt? I have a family holiday 3 weeks later which I would like to tell everyone at but want my scan before then?!

VapeVamp12 · 04/06/2019 13:24

I went when I thought I was 12+1 and I was actually 11+5 it wad fine :)

TheStorkIsArriving80 · 04/06/2019 14:02

I'm only getting my booking appointment when I will be over 10 weeks going with my dates but not 100% sure they are right, should I be seen before this? Not got any date for scan yet either Confused

firefly · 04/06/2019 16:17

Hiya. 22 weeks here. My dates were all over the place. They carried out my first scan at 10+5 - it was too early so bought me back a week later where my date was changed to 12 weeks exactly. I wouldn't worry too much.

Comps83 · 04/06/2019 17:14

Thanks guys
I’m pretty certain on the dates and it was backed up by a private scan last week
I’m less confident in the system at the moment
I’ve been passed from pillar to post since the start and I’m not even sure who I’m meant to ring for advice

It's a difference of two days it doesn't matter at all.

CodenameVillanelle · 04/06/2019 18:20

11+5 is 12 weeks. Do you think they have the resources to do every 12 week scan bang on 12 weeks? In any case, your 12 week scan is for dating - prior to that your dates are only approximate anyway.

Comps83 · 04/06/2019 18:24

@CodenameVillanelle erm ok I wasn’t complaining. Just making sure I wasn’t wasting their time and mine especially as DH has requested special leave
I spoke to someone else who said they’d had to come back a while later as they were only 11+1
If anything I’m glad I’m getting it early

Hi, if you've been messed about as you say, I would keep the scan date and take it from there. If you are too early then they will do scan but also re-book for another few days, worst case scenario in the case (might get a row for saying this) but it's two scans for you to see your little one. Chances are it will be fine because they say 12 week scan can be between 11-13 weeks normally. I would defo keep your appointment. Good luck and congrats x

Comps83 · 04/06/2019 18:27

Yeah I’m deffo keeping the appt thanks
