Measuring 2 weeks early - no sign of fetal pole

Went for a private scan at 7 +5weeks. Scan showed yolk sac but there was no sign of a fetal pole. I measured only 6 weeks and was asked to come back in 2 weeks. I’m beside myself - anyone else experienced this ? I am not feeling hopeful

This happened to me in feb. I was 8+3 but measured 5+5, had to wait to 2 weeks but it wasn't good news for me and I ended up having to have a d&c. Hoping yours is better news, it's a painfully long 2 weeks wait.

If you are really sure of the date you possibly conceived then I'd say it wasn't looking too good. Sorry Flowers
But there's always a possibility you could of ovulated later in your cycle, so dont lose all hope. Good luck OP. Xx

I think the only shred of hope could be if you’d ovulated super late, do you know when you ovulated? If however you tested around the date of your due period and got a positive then you’d have had to have ovulated and conceive far enough back that by now your have seen something on the scan. I had a scan at the same week/day and we saw the pole very clearly as well as a heartbeat. I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t sound good and I’d start preparing myself for the worst now and then if it does end up okay at least it’s better than clinging to false hope.

Did they do an internal scan? As we saw the pole with an internal scan as you might struggle to visualise it this early abdominally (especially if you’re overweight). I’m surprised they’ve said wait two weeks, but I guess if it’s a private place they are rescanning for free and booked it two weeks away in the assumption that you will perhaps have miscarried by then if it’s going to happen and not need the second scan.

I would speak to your GP and see about a referral to your local early pregnancy unit.

Yes it was a vaginal scan. I think there’s a chance I did ovulate late as my previous cycle was 37 days but I think you’re right that it’s best to think this isn’t going to happen..x it’s my first pregnancy and hopefully not the last. The private scanning place didn’t offer a second free scan. I’m seeing midwife tomorrow so will talk it through with her. Thanks for you comments x

7+5 went for private scan, sack and yolk but no feral pole, I got mi positive test cd 39, could I ask if you went for a follow up scan and what happened ?xx

SSBbris · 16/06/2019 19:25

Hiya, sadly I had the follow up scan on Friday which showed the same so I’m booked in for a d&c on Wednesday. Haven’t had any bleeding or pain. I really hope you have a positive outcome x x I have heard some good stories on here. all the best

Ps I had the scan with the nhs - the private scan left us with no answers and I was really upset. The midwives were fantastic

@SSBbris yeah I had my private scan today, haven't stopped googling and crying since!! I have a booking appointment with the midwife a week tomorrow so I'll see what she says and maybe book another scan for 2 weeks, I'm so so sorry for you're loss xx

SSBbris · 16/06/2019 19:56

Yeah I went to my booking scan a few days after the first scan and burst into tears - she was so amazing and called the EPU whilst I was there and they’ve been incredible. I didn’t go ahead with the booking in as they wanted to scan me first but I’d definitely go along and talk it through with the midwife. I really hope things are ok with you and I know how awful the waiting is x
