hello all,
hoping for some advice.
im currently 31 weeks pregnant but my first child.
i never planned on having children because of a couple of health issues.
ive been told i can have a planned section, however im still really nervous. it’s giving me really bad anxiety.
will thry put me to sleep if i ask? if so how long would i be out for?
i kniw they normally do them around 38/39 weeks but when will i get my actual date? that’s causeing bad anxiety too.
im due to see my consultant tomorrow.

@booey12 Congratulations firstly! How exciting, you don't have long to go! Smile Secondly, CSections really aren't that bad. I know it sounds extreme and terrifying, I thought the same before my DC but once I had a section I was surprised at how quickly I recovered. Of course it was painful at times but nothing compared to what the stories had said! I doubt they would put you to sleep unless there was a further medical reason, the entire process is over so quickly and the Hospital are super supportive for your recovery. Try to relax and not worry, the most important thing is that your beautiful baby will be delivered safely and you will be just fine too! SmileThanks

Putting you to sleep affects skin to skin time and breastfeeding so it’s rare that they do it. However if you have someone with you who could give the skin to skin contact instead, you might be able to request it if it will help your anxiety. Just bear in mind that they absolutely won’t consider it for certain conditons - so you may need the support of your consultant

Thanks!
What are the chances of my consultant giving me my date tomorrow? Obviously people need to book time off work etc.
Also what happens if my water go before I’m due to go in? Would it just be an emergency one?

31 weeks is too early to be good for the baby but I suppose you could ask.

JuniperNarni · 02/06/2019 19:13

I've heard of people being given dates much earlier so there is a chance they will give you a date tomorrow. I think the guidelines say c sections should be done at 39 weeks and not before unless an emergency so that should give you an idea.

If you go into labour beforehand they will do a section when you get to hospital.

ButtonMooooon · 02/06/2019 19:31

@Teddybear45 the OP is just asking for the date in the future. Not for the section to be done now

booey12 · 02/06/2019 21:34

Yes! I know they won’t do it now, I wouldn’t be happy for them too. I just mean my future date! 😊
