Could I be anaemic?

MW says I don't look anaemic, but I'm absolutely completely shattered, to the point I can't eat properly (I feel sick to my stomach I'm that shattered) or function properly. I'm awaiting my 28-week blook test results.

I'm just so fed up of being so tired! Could I be anaemic? I've felt like this for weeks. I know I'm going to get more tired as things go on, but should I be feeling like death at 29 weeks?

Thanks...

I would make an appointment to have a blood test, or at least ask MW to check for you.

You cannot see anemia!!

Take care.

My thoughts precisely! Plus I looked so deathly in the first trimester that I bought foundation one shade darker than normal and have been slapping that on ever since! (wore more normal shade yesterday - dh said I looked really pale!).

Thanks.

take Spatone and see if it improves - it might be low iron but it might just be pregnancy...

I found the 28-30 week period really hard as I was trying to keep on at a normal pace (as I had up till then) and my body just couldn't hack it any more.
Once I started doing all those late-pregnancy things I swore I'd never do (sitting with my feet up, snacking hard, making people give up their seat on the bus, napping in the afternoons, not worrying how clean the house was, leaving work early etc etc) and generally being kinder to myself the tiredness actually abated a bit.

It could be anaemia.

I was like that with my first pg, seemed to miss the 'bloom' completely, plus the morning sickness returned in the 3rd trimester. Blood test came back saying I was slightly anaemic. Took iron supplement and wow! suddenly I was blooming and feeling fine again. It would seem that I have a very low tolerance to anaemia - tests in 2nd pregnancy showed that I don't have standard haemoglobin. I took iron supplements throughout 2nd pg and had the bloom, didn't get ms again, didn't get anaemic. Got sightly anaemic in 3rd trimester of 3rd pg, ms came back etc, increased supplement andeverything was fine again.

i found out i was annemic at 7 1/2 months. told my my midwife i felt so tired everyday. she just shrugged it off.i always felt i had to have a coffee to get me started i morning. that day i went for blood test i was determined something was up so did not eat much. and it came back i was only 9 which is quite low. so push them for a test. now on triple the iron i should be on

I was diagnosed with anaemia and given Pregaday on prescription which is a combination of folic acid and iron. Are you taking any pg supplements? At least they have done blood tests so they should pick it up. The good thing is that the iron/folic acid tablets kick in quite quickly - I am already feeling so much better and I only started taking them on Friday!

BTW, cut out caffeine which can stop your body from absorbing iron properly and drink orange juice instead as vit c helps with iron absorption.

It's true what the others say, you can't tell if someone's anaemic just by looking (although apparently if the insides of your eyelids look pale that can be an indicator).

I agree with MrsBadger that you should try some Spatone while you wait for your blood test results.

I felt exactly the same as you're describing and it turned out my iron was really low. Spatone (as well as eating better and taking pregnacare) seems to have really sorted me out.

Forgot I posted this!! Twas indeed anaemia (just a touch though) and I'm knocking back the iron tablets and feeling much more human!
