DH has given me the money for the baby's stuff, I am 20 weeks and have my scan on Tuesday but already know the sex due to having a 3D scan! We wasn't going to buy anything till after 30 weeks but now I have the money I can't help myself 😂 we only have clothes atm and nothing else.

So when did you buy or will you buy everything for your baby 😁🥰

I’m 18w, but long decided I will hold off buying any clothes etc until I have a better idea of how big bub will be, since OH and I were both 10lb+ babies and I was rather long.

I’m also looking for second hand prams etc and know what I want so I’m going to hold out til the right one is available.

And I’ll be having a winter baby, so kinda need to wait for the winter clothes to come out.

I like window shopping though...

bobble53 · 01/06/2019 16:18

I’m 13 weeks but already bought our snuzpod as it was on offer and saved £30. Buying pram next month too. We are currently planning a wedding and buying a house so trying to plan money well and makes sense to buy now rather than all at once :)

HJWT · 01/06/2019 16:38

@bobble53 that makes me feel better 😁

@Sessy19 we only buy up to 1 month & 0-3 DD would never of fit newborn so doubt DS will as he is measuring a week bigger already lol! Also waiting for the winter stuff to come back out to buy more clothes 😆

Right near the end. Got the occasional thing every now and then when baby events were on but didn't bother me.

This time I'll be getting things like nappies etc when events or discounts are on.

HJWT · 01/06/2019 17:13

@DeadDoorpost that was our plan but now the money is just sitting there I want to spend it 😂 I know I will regret though when its all sitting round the house 🙄 xx

I am only 12 weeks but have already bought one cuddly whale, one cuddly octopus and some cute dino dungarees. But no more. I couldn't resist the dungarees. They were half price. I got them for 6-12 months! Really planning ahead. But they are bound to fit in them at some point! Ha.

No more. I'm not sure when we'll start buying but we are going to have to think about the baby's room at some point.

I admit i start getting a little scared when looking at baby things.

Sparkle733 · 01/06/2019 17:25

We bought most of our baby things after my 12 week scan!
Enjoy! It’s all very exciting Smile

Snog · 01/06/2019 17:55

I bought early as didn't want to be fussed with shopping whilst heavily pregnant. It worked well as I felt ready for the baby.

Mondayblues7 · 01/06/2019 18:06

I have been buying once a week just little items . Cotton wool, nappies and wipes etc. Baby wash, maternity pads, breast pads etc.

I bought the Moses basket around 14 weeks, bought the pram at 24. We went with a Joie Juba travel system. Bought it for £100 from Argos and was 99% sure we would take it back. But it's so good! We decided to keep it. I bought an insert so baby is a bit more comfortable inside. Bought the baby monitors, baby bath is gifted to us brand new, changing bag got off of Amazon.

I am not buying a cot until baby is here, only things left to buy really are isofix car base, changing mat and a few more clothes. We are keeping it a surprise so have just bought the basics.

I would say, set up an Amazon baby wish list. You don't have to buy it from Amazon but at least you know what you have left to buy.

Enjoy it! It's very exciting.

I’m now 23 weeks. Bought pram v early (around 13 weeks), went to the Baby Show two days after my 20 week scan and bought loads of clothes, Chicco next to me crib and all accessories, blankets and an Elvie breast pump. Have bought lots of new clothes and other more practical bits (reusable nappies, changing mat, wipes, breast pads, kit with baby scissors, thermometer etc) since then. The only big thing left I think is the car seat.

Sessy19 · 01/06/2019 18:24

@HWJT, the other thing is that I don’t want to get used to the stuff in the house too soon.... I want that brand new feeling when bub gets here! 😊 Sounds silly, but it’s my way!

And, I see new ideas and colours and patterns all the time that would probably have me taking half the stuff back before bub even gets here to exchange! 🙄

Charm23 · 01/06/2019 18:36

I'm only 5 weeks so not even started looking yet but I know when I get the opportunity to peek at baby clothes I will so I know I'll find it difficult to wait. My last pregnancy ended in MC at 8 weeks so we're a bit fearful of jinxing ourselves. We've not made appointments, not telling anyone (other than my DM) and we certainly won't be buying anything until 12 weeks at the absolute minimum. Probably try and hold out for 20 weeks but we shall see lol

Sexnotgender · 01/06/2019 18:39

I bought my pram when I was 6 weeks 🙈 it was a total bargain in my defence...

SleeplessinEastSussex · 01/06/2019 19:14

We brought a pram today and I am 23 weeks. Going to buy something each week.

HJWT · 01/06/2019 19:46

Your ALL a bad influence 😂 iv decided to buy my baby wish list of amazon and wait till 30 weeks to get the pram I think thats fair 😁 I want the bugaboo fox so I think it will be to big to store until then! 💙

DeadDoorpost · 01/06/2019 21:00

@HJWT to be fair we did get gifted a lot of things as well. And lived 300 miles from family so was easier for them to bring stuff to us when they visited close to my due date.

excitednerves · 01/06/2019 21:41

I am buying little things each week. Bought our travel system at about 25 weeks, so just a cot and some storage to go as far as big things are concerned. Then I just need a few little bits like baby bath etc which can be a last minute amazon buy if needs be.

secretlyhermione · 01/06/2019 22:22

I also thought I would hold off till the third trimester but as we're buying a second hand pram I found a super good deal on the one that I want and we're going to look at it on Monday and probably buy it. The person is also selling a car seat we may also buy. My parents are giving us the crib as it was the one they used when I was a baby and they bought it an antique store so quite exciting for me that baby will be sleeping in same crib as I did. I'll buy the rest of the stuff in the third trimester.

PBobs · 01/06/2019 22:41

Bought stuff as we went and got most in the sales and as we holidayed in countries with better selections than where we lived. Started around week 15-16 after our NIPT results were all clear.

happymummy12345 · 01/06/2019 22:48

Not until the month before my due date at the earliest. Even then it was the bare minimum and only what I needed for hospital was at home. I'm superstitious and refused to have things in the house until after the baby was born.

thepartysover · 02/06/2019 09:45

I'm 30 weeks and haven't really bought anything yet! Very excited and not at all superstitious about having stuff in the house, it just feels very premature. If I have everything here and then still have 10 weeks to wait I think I'll go mad.

Plus - the shops will still be open when the baby arrives Wink

Word of warning on buying 2nd hand car seats - unless you can be absolutely sure the seat hasn't been damaged or in any kind of incident then it's not recommended. It's just not safe.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/06/2019 09:49
