Hi lovely ladies!

I've finally got the wonderful 2nd line we've all been waiting for :)
All this time, I've spent researching symptoms/tips on TTC but haven't really researched on what i should do once I'm there!

So, can you help me please? What do i need to do now? Do i wait for a while before going GP? Do i even go GP or straight to the hospital? how can I get a midwife?

P.s. I haven't even shared the news with DH!!! I wanted to wait until fathers day but i really don't think i can last that long!! Haah!

Congratulations! I think it depends on your area, some people go to the gp to be referred to the midwife, some people can just call the gp and ask reception to book them in with the midwife and then others have to self refer to the local midwife centre. I'd suggest calling your gp surgery and asking the receptionist x

@mila1988 Congratulations! Grin

I was the same, I found out on a Saturday and my head was in a spin I just didn't know what to do with myself! My advice would be give yourself and your DH (once you've told him) sometime to get your head around it. Even when you've been TTC when it actually happens it's a lot to take so give yourself that time.

Then definitely call your GP and asks how it works in your area, they can get your booking appointment sorted and let you know what else you need to think about right now!

Above all I've found that resting is so important, if you feel like taking that afternoon nap then do it and don't feel guilty!

Let us know how you get on Smile

@DaisyMay25 thank you! I'll call the GP surgery and take it from there :)

@ MummyBear405 thank you and Congrats to you too! how far are you? I think I'm at 5 weeks :) Luckily I'm just feeling cramps and sore boobs but looking forward to all the other crazy symptoms!

I think I'll tell DH tonight :) any creative ways you told you DH?

Same advice as everyone else has given but just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! Grin
Literally stick some buns in your oven at home and ask him to sort the oven out, see if he twigs on!

MummyBear405 · 31/05/2019 11:20

@Mila1988 I think I'm 5w+4 but I found out before my period was due so I've had a couple of weeks to get my head around it! You know I wish I'd found a more creative way but I was just in shock that I ran out of the loo (with my trouser still undone) and ran into the garage where DH was getting out the lawn mower and just shoved it into this hands!

I like @Fluffyunicorn98 's idea! As long as that's not too subtle, I'm not sure my DH would have cottoned on Grin

Fluffyunicorn98 · 31/05/2019 11:28

mummybear i think if i had done that, my boyfriend would have walked in and asked why on earth im leaving bread in the oven! Grin

Congratulations!!

You're probably already doing this if you were TTC but make sure you're taking your folic acid and vitamin D.

I think I got booked in at around 9 weeks or so? Ring your local midwife team and get booked in.

How exciting!!!!!

MummyBear405 · 31/05/2019 11:55

@Fluffyunicorn98 that's probably what my husband would do ... bless them! Smile

mila1988 · 31/05/2019 13:48

@Fluffyunicorn98 brill idea but i think DH will defo not understand haha!

@PlinkPlink thank you :) I've been taking 400mg folic acid but is there a recommended brand i should be having? i.e.pregnacare/wellwoman?

DaisyMay25 · 31/05/2019 14:08

@mila1988 all that's suggested is folic acid, like you're taking, and vitamin d, you don't need to take the expensive branded multi ones as those two are the most important

PlinkPlink · 31/05/2019 15:15

I just used Boots ones. They do a combo tablet as well of your daily dose of vit d and folic acid

EnjoyItAll · 31/05/2019 18:40

Congratulations! I second boots vitamins. Very similar to pregnacare, usually on 3 for 2 and don’t seem to have much taste so easy to swallow
