Cravings?

When/if you got cravings did they begin? I'm 14 weeks tomorrow, first pregnancy so I've no idea when they should start - people keep asking me what my cravings are and I have absolutely none! Is this because they won't begin yet or I'm lucky enough not to get them?

Not everyone gets them. Mine started slightly before my bfp (potato craving) and then afterwards I started getting food aversions. I’m 13 weeks and the cravings and aversions are still going strong.

I got them early, from about 6 weeks right up until around 14 weeks (salt and vinegar crisps, gherkins, citrus fruits, anything tangy!) then they went away.

My aversions were mostly salad (which I ate loads of before!), which is apparently a self-protection thing due to the listeria risk of unwashed salad leaves, and meat.

But I'm back on both now that I am almost in the 3rd trimester.

i didnt notice cravings till after sickness passed .With my last pregnancy it was just pork pies and pancakes

Kinsters · 31/05/2019 13:04

I've had cravings and aversions since about 6 or 7 weeks. The aversions are really annoying and there's so much stuff I just don't want to eat anymore. I'm really hoping it stops by the second trimester (I'm 9 weeks now).

taylorlynn · 31/05/2019 13:07

I didn't really ever crave anything desperately but I was really turned off by so much like meat and cheese. All I could smell was gravy for the first ten weeks it made me feel sick at the time.

BlueChampagne · 31/05/2019 13:11

Never craved anything that I can remember. Except perhaps gooey cheese and wine!

Moominfan · 31/05/2019 13:16

Went straight off coffee/tea. Ate a litre of broccoli soup one day, must have needed the folic acid.

Newyearsameoldshit · 31/05/2019 13:19

No real cravings for me first time around, just aversions.

This time I cannot get enough orange juice and I normally avoid it, pregnancy is weird!

Preggers86 · 31/05/2019 13:20

During the first trimester I had a slight craving for ready salted crisps and potato nothing major though but had food aversions for fish, baked beans and cooking meat and also cups of teas.

I have been expecting major cravings and I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to send Dp out late at night with a weird and wonderful shopping list

redwoodmazza · 31/05/2019 13:34

I hate spicy food and I was really hoping I would have cravings for curry!!! But, no. No cravings at all.

Andersonx3 · 31/05/2019 15:36

Sounds like aversions are a lot more common than cravings! I've had terrible aversions to so much since about 6 weeks and I'm a huge foodie! I'll look at a menu in a restaurant and everything will make me feel ill 😞

At ten weeks I have completely gone off tea, hummus and all soup Sad... sad times!

secretlyhermione · 31/05/2019 15:46

I had strong cravings in the first trimester for meat - and I usually don't eat much meat - and then in the last month for sour candy! Was gobbling them down and now avoiding them!

secretlyhermione · 31/05/2019 15:47

Also had quite a few aversions which sadly included most vegetables, but now thankfully those seem to have gone.

Bernifal · 31/05/2019 16:38

I don’t think I noticed a craving until about 30 weeks. I suddenly realised I was wanting ice cream every single day and that wasn’t normal haha

MeredithGrey1 · 31/05/2019 16:43

I'm 36+6 and haven't had any cravings or strong aversions (apart from general aversion to all food in the first trimester).

hipstercat · 31/05/2019 16:46

I haven't had any and was a bit disappointed not to have anything funny to tell! I mean, I crave obscene quantities of chocolate and cake, but I can't honestly blame that on being pregnant... Wink In the first trimester when I was sick I often only felt like I could deal with a particular food, but it wasn't consistent and it was always things I liked anyway. Someone told me it's only quite a small percentage of women who get proper cravings.

Andersonx3 · 31/05/2019 16:53

I think I may have missed out on them then! I've had moments where I've fancied something but it's all been quite normal and if I haven't had it then I've gotten over it easily. I suppose I'd only complain if I did get them! Wink
