Co-sleeper advice please

I'm hoping to buy a co-sleeper for my baby but I'm a bit stuck as to which options would work with my bed, which is pretty high at 78cm from floor to top of mattress.

Thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone had a similar setup and could advise.

I'm keen on the chicco next 2 me, but while I know there are around 3 different models that vary between 6 - 11 different height settings, I cant see what the height parameters are for each individual model 🤔

Looked on the Amazon q&a section and it looks like chicco have responded to height queries similar to mine, but again the answers dont marry up to a specific model so I'm no clearer.

I have emailed the company but figured some other mums here might already have one and could advise.

Thank you in advance!

I don't know the specific height it goes to but I believe it's lower than the snuzpod, and the snuzpod only goes up to 63cm so you might have an issue. I don't know if this is true of all models though, hopefully someone can give a better answer!

www.bednest.com/

I rented a crib from here. Perfect condition, spotless and baby slept well in it. Not sure about the height, but worth a look.

The Tutti Bambini Cozee co sleeper crib can go up to 84cm - sorry not sure about the Chicco though!

Unfortunately Bednest don’t offer hire any more. We loved ours.

I can check mine in the morning. I have the booklet somewhere.

Thanks all, I really thought I'd find a chicco one to suit but they've just sent me this so looks like I'm back to the drawing board 🤷‍♀️

"Unfortunately the crib would only be compatible up to 66cm with a leverage of a 2 cm "Lip" making the maximum compatible height 68cm. The Chicco Next 2 Me Magicwill not be compatible with beds which are higher than this. Should you wish to use the crib in standalone mode ( not attached to the bed) it will be suitable."

If you are up for a bit of DIY then there are tutorials and guidance online to adapt an Ikea crib safely as a co-sleeper. Google ‘Ikea bedside crib hack’.

We've got the dream which I think has 11 different heights. Ours is on the penultimate height (didn't even think to check this before we bought it) but I'll check the manual/do some measuring later.

coral13 · 30/05/2019 10:38

I have the snuzpod 3 and my bed is 85cm to top of my mattress and that's completely fine.

coral13 · 30/05/2019 10:39

Should add that's on the highest setting but there are lower settings too.

PugPupsMum · 30/05/2019 11:44

We also went for the Snuzpod 3 and really happy with it.

angelix · 30/05/2019 14:24

Thanks @cardboard 33, I'd really appreciate it 🤞

@coral13 are you using it attached to the bed? My bed plus mattress is 65cm and I was worried because the manual says 63cm max, but having put it up it looks like the difference is negligible.

cardboard33 · 31/05/2019 11:31

Sorry it took me so long to get the measurements. Our bed is 64cm high including the mattress and we've got our Chicco on a slant, so the head end is at 11 (the top setting) and then the other end is at 8. The crib mattress is level with our bed frame, and the bed frame is 46cm at the point where it is attached to our bed. Our baby is now 12 weeks old and we've always had the side panel down. If you want any other measurements from the Dream model let me know.

It will depend on how low your bed frame is as this is what it attaches to, ultimately. If your mattress is really tall and your bed is actually a "standard" height then you'll be fine as it would just mean that you'd be reaching down lower to the crib. In the instruction manual it says "the top edge of the lowered side of the crib must not be higher than the upper surface of the parents’ mattress" so you'd have more of an issue if the crib was higher than the mattress, rather than the other way around. Can you borrow one from someone to test it out, or alternatively, you could buy it from somewhere reputable like JL and then just return it if it didn't fit? We price watched the Next to Me crib for months as I'd decided that I wanted it but didn't want to pay full price. We got it from JL in the post Christmas sale when it was less than half price. I've not seen it that low since and people are selling them second hand for more than we paid new.

Having had a Snuzpod I would highly recommend just taking the side off a cot and attaching that to the bed. 1000% times smoother fit, loads of room etc. Cheaper too!

scratchbass · 31/05/2019 13:21

Chicco Magic measurements attached I hope! They are on the outside of the box.

If you leave the side up, the height of the bed doesn't matter but that depends on how you want to use it.

Thanks everyone! As it happens, our friends had a next 2 me crib in storage so have given it to us. It's the original one, 6 heights and we tried it against our bed this weekend. Its probably around 5 - 10cm too low to be used as a cosleeper so were looking at possibly just using it as a bedside crib with the sides up instead.
DH is also planning to look at putting together some kinda wooden block platform that we could put underneath it as an option. I'm not convinced on that but having read other forums, it seems more common than I thought so I suppose we can give it a try before baby arrives. We've got enough time 🤞
I dont think I'm tempted enough to spend 200 on the Dream version to see if height wise it's any better as it seems a waste when we've been gifted this one FOC. Just need to buy a new mattress.
We'll see I suppose. Thank you all for your help with this though, much appreciated 👏
