Hi I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have just seen on a fb thread that hot baths are dangerous. I had no idea! Two days ago my OH and I stayed in a hotel for my birthday and we had a a hot jacuzzi bath. I think I was only in it for about 20 mins because I got too hot & felt sick. I lay down for about half an hour and then I felt ok. I'm just really worried I may have harmed the baby. Do I need to do something? Tell my midwife? My next scan is on the 9th July Thanks

Latest research suggests i’s fine up to 20 minutes or so, and as you get bigger the chance of your core temperature rising reduces.

The chances of you harming the baby are really slim! I avoid them now though. I can't get in and out, and lying on my back makes me dizzy

I think its more for the mum getting too hot fainting etc and the baby cant control his/her temp like we can. I always have had bath when pregnant also showers havent always been around so pregnant women have always had a bath.jacuzzi u were in a short time,if your worried give your midwife a call x

No it’s fine OP don’t worry. Probably best stay off the jacuzzis for prolonged periods as they stay constantly hot but baths are ok as they cool down and cool you down with them
