2 cm at sweep

I had a sweep this morning and doctor said I'm 2cm dilated, does that mean my body had started the process and gone from 0 to 2 cm already?

Yes, I think so. Means you're on the way I think!

My friend has this and her baby still took another 5 days! Like all things pregnancy, it could mean it's about to start for one person and totally different for another!

Totally depends as previous poster said. On my second I was 3-4 apparently but I didn't go into labour for another 48 hours but I went quickly then.

I was 5cm for a week!

I know it could still take a few weeks which I'm fine with.
Last time my water broke first before any dilation so the labour was very long so I'm just relieved that dilation has started, gives me hope that my body is preparing itself and labour won't be so bad this time around

Both times I had a sweep, I was 2cm and it all started within a few hours. Good luck!

I was about to ask if this was your second and sounds like it is!

I believe once you’ve had a child, you never go back to zero so you were probably at least 1cm anyway.

I’m off to midwife today and going to ask for one. I’ve had pains for days but they’re not contractions (maybe effacement?) so I’m hoping something is happening!

I also had really strange cramping all day Tuesday and Wednesday and doctor said my cervix is anterior which is wear it needs to be so think that could have been some of the strange feeling I was having, I knew something was happening, I just didn't know what!
