Is it better to take paracetamol or let a temperature be?

Newly and very, very unexpectedly pregnant. Not entirely clear whether pregnancy is viable yet but I'm only about 5 weeks (I think). Also have a chest infection and a temp of 38.5.

Anyone got any insight about whether it's better when pregnant to take some paracetamol to bring it down or just let it be, since it isn't too high? Normally I let a temperature be if I don't feel too ill in the hopes it'll do its job and burn out the infection faster.

You can take paracetamol, it's ibuprofen you need to avoid!

I was told by the mw that a temp over 38 has the potential to harm the baby. So yes, paracetamol.

Thanks. I may be obsessing over the small stuff as a way of controlling my stressful situation. Paracetamol it is.

I’d take paracetamol and call the doctor if you don’t start to feel better Flowers

Sounds like you already have an infection when your temp is already 38.5. Take your paracetamol then ring 111 for advice as i think may need to see a Dr today.

I saw GP yesterday and am already on (pregnancy safe) antibiotics. Think I just need to ride it out in bed. Thanks for the advice all.
