Discharge question (sorry, bit gross)

I'm nearly 10 weeks. Up until maybe a week ago I'd been having fairly regularly discharge that was clear and very liquid. At my first appointment the midwife said more discharge was normal (although she didn't actually say what sort/colour of discharge was normal) so I kind of dismissed this as basically fine. In the last week if been having more viscous, yellowish/orangy discharge. No smell or anything and I'm not sore/itchy, but it's made me wonder if this is OK, and if it is, was the clear liquid discharge actually bad??

I hope the above makes sense. And apologise for TMI.

Any advice would be appreciated.

During both pregnancies I have had both and because there's been no smell or itchiness I've just assumed it's normal. I'll mention it if it starts to smell unpleasant I think. I don't worry too much about clear/yellow-y.

Hi hope you're ok, from what I've read and experienced, it IS totally normal but only if it's clear / milky white and relatively mild / scent less. The increase in discharge is completely normal yes but coloured discharge is probably worth a check 🙂🙂 xx

I've had the same and loads of it, so much I thought it was blood in the early days. I've not had it in my 3 previous pregnancies with my boys but this time it's been excessive. I told the midwife last week about the amount and colour not always white sometimes darker/yellowy and she said as no itching or smell not to worry its just hormones. X

Hmm, ok thanks guys. I guess I'll just keep an eye for the next few days and call the midwife on Tues if it's still happening.

I'm now 32 weeks and I've had it this pregnancy (didn't with DD1), sometimes yellow/green tinge and becomes excessive but with no smell or itching at all. I have regular scans (diabetic) and all is fine with baby. I've found using a vaginal balance gel/pessary such as Activ Balance gets it back to normal for anything from a fortnight to 10-12 weeks then it will come back eventually so I'll use the pessary for a few days again. It's obviously hormonal changes messing with the ph balance as the treatments always work and I've had no infections. Probably don't need to bother but they're safe to use in pregnancy and I hate having the excessive discharge. Darker yellow and orange can be old blood but probably nothing to worry about. Your midwife will be able to put your mind at rest.
