Ectopic Pregnancy Worries

Hi all,

This might be the most ridiculous post but I was wondering if anyone could put my mind at ease. I'm so worried about something being wrong when I go for my scan on Thursday and if I had an ectopic pregnancy, would it be really obvious to me by now? The only thing that has made me suspect it is that a lot of my pains and twinges throughout have been on one side around the left ovary, but I've had no bleeding etc. I haven't spoken to anyone medically because I think I'm just anxious about everything and don't want to waste anyone's time!

Has anyone had the pains similar to mine and then everything been fine?

Is this your 12 week scan? If so, yes - if it was ectopic, you'd probably know by now.

It is normal to have some pain in early pregnancy around the ovary that the egg came from, so an ectopic isn't the most likely cause - it's just that given the potential consequences, it's always wise to get it ruled out.

@Worrier2019 - I had a ectopic pregnancy around 4 weeks ago, I was ten weeks pregnant and due to how big the 'baby' was getting at that point it had stretched my tube and caused internal bleeding, the pain was absolutely agonising, I think by 12 weeks you would know if it was ectopic.

Try and relax, I hope everything goes well for you xx

If it's your 12 week scan you'd definitely know by now. Most ectopics are discovered around the 6 week mark - mine ruptured at 7 weeks I've only known one person to have got close to 12 weeks and it be ectopic in the support groups I'm on
