EPU appointment

Hi all,

I have an appointment this morning at my local Epu due to spotting.

Do I need to drink water before I go?
Or what are the chances they will do a transvaginal ultrasound ?
Or will they do bloods and things?

I just don’t want to unbearably fill my bladder or rock up with an empty one if there not getting straight to it if that makes sense.

Any similar experience or advice?
Thanks x

Having been Several times-they actually want an empty bladder so don't dehydrated yourself but keep in mind.

Scan will be internal and they'll only do bloods if they want to further investigate anything

Good luck Thanks

No urine sample was required when I went and they did a normal scan for me, I was 6 weeks.

It depends how far gone you are. I had transvaginal scans up until 9weeks and abdominal ones after. If you are nearer 12 weeks definitely full bladder.

I had an abdominal scan at 9 weeks so needed a full bladder. How far on are you?

Dillydilly55 · 25/05/2019 07:12

10 weeks

I'd definitely go with full bladder at 10 weeks

I had one the other day and they did both scans. So I went with a full bladder, had the normal scan, went to empty it and then back for the transvaginal scan.

No urine sample or bloods, just a couple of questions xx

Hope it goes well today. Go with a full bladder, they'll ask you to empty it if needs be.
