I'm currently 13+1 and have had on and off spotting since I was about 6 weeks pregnant i have been for many scans at the early pregnancy unit and each time my baby has been completely fine and I have been told they can't see where the bleed is coming from. Yesterday I passed a clot and was dripping into the toilet (tmi sorry) the size of a 50 pence went for a scan today again baby is fine and bleeding appears to have stopped. WHERE'S THE BLEED COMING FROM? I can't seem to get any answers 😥 just keep being told "its normal"

It could be a chorionic hematoma. I had a huge loss of blood at 13 weeks to the point I filled the bedpan I was sitting on, baby absolutely fine. She's now 7 :) It's like a little pouch of blood outside of the amniotic sac, which drains around and out. I had frequent scans and it resolved itself by my 20 week scan. Seems to run in my family.

Would that show up on my scans though? As there is nothing seen around or even near baby?

If nothing shows on scans it's likely to be your cervix. It's called cervical erosion. If you google it in layman's terms it's like a graze which bleeds mainly brown but sometimes red. Caused by hormones and can just be one or those things but particularly irritated when having sex.

I had it at 6 weeks and a whole week for week 9

I had treatment for that last year but was told that it had cleared up at my last smear. Could that come back? I had a gynae have a look at 10 weeks but he said he couldn't really see much and thought it was coming from further up. But again nothing on scans. Should I be worried? Or just keep an eye on it because it stops and starts and baby is fine.

Yes it could definitely come back as one of the causes is pregnancy hormones

It didn't show up on my scans for a couple more weeks.

Sorry to hear this OP. I have something similar. Spotting on and off and a big bleed at week 10. Had a scan and everything fine. I'm 12w tomorrow and have the 12w scan on Tuesday.

Assuming all is still fine, my plan is to have a scan at 14, 16 and 18 weeks privately if I have more spotting, just for reassurance. It's my first pregnancy that's got this far so bleeding freaks me out. But our experiences suggest it really is normal... Thanks
